Alternator DIY and Power Steering Leak.

Well it's official, my alternator is done for and need a new one. So is there any DIY threads on here? Any special tools besides the obvious stick of dynamite for the fan clutch nut. And on a scale of 1-10 how is the difficulty? Oh and I've noticed leaking around the pwr ster hoses. If I remember isn't that usually caused by the clips/clamps holding the hoses on. I'll check the hoses as well and replace if necessary. But where would I get them at and how much are they. I figured I might as well work on that as well.

I replaced mine from the bottom.
I removed the fan and I think the PS pump pulley for clearance.
Wasn't a hard job, maybe 90 minutes.

I'm getting jaded ... so I must tell the OP that, of course there are DIY threads, since almost everyone here has replace their alternator.

It takes me longer to type this up (which is why I'm getting jaded) than it does for you to find these threads below by typing /alternator in the best links ...

- DIYs for replacing the E39 I6 alternator (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) & E39 V8 alternator (1) (2) (3) (4)
Please read the suggested threads and add value, either by pictures or by descriptions, so the next person stands on your shoulders.

BlueBee, if you're getting jaded, then simply don't enable it.
With no response, the poster will figure out how to Google his question.
Let it go.
