BMW 320d coupe, 2008, shakes like a tractor.
I have a 320d, 2008. 110k miles. Like the title says, it shakes like a tractor, both in idle and to a lesser extent when driving. I can't rest my hand on the gear stick when driving due to the vibration. It judders when I'm driving it but shakes violently when it's stopped. It makes no difference whether the clutch is depressed or not. There are no warning lights on the dashboard. There is perhaps a little loss of power on acceleration, but not too much. It is a very uncomfortable ride and the car feels like it needs to cough, which is the best way I can describe it. At idle, the gear stick and the car shakes quite violently.
I took it to the garage today. They plugged it in and the diagnostic computer didn't find anything. Then they told me it is the fly wheel (whatever that is) and that I need a new clutch at the cost of £1200 plus tax. I've looked at a few forums, not one has suggested the 'fly wheel' so now I don't know whether to get the clutch replaced. It's very expensive if that's not the problem!
Any help would be really appreciated!
