I've spent at least 20 hours researching the "best" parts for the 2011 BMW E90 335i.

Questions:

1) What modifications can i remove from this list?
2) What modifications should i add to this list?
3) What is the recommended front/rear tire sizes?
4) Is a performance chip recommended? I'm more into looks/sound as opposed to horsepower.
5) Are any of these parts necessary modifications?:

Bushings for rear subframe
Limited slip differential

why is that so important? What does it do other than teach you how to drive the bmw really well

Recommend: Pick just one....enjoy the job. Revel in your worth. Think about maybe another mod some time down the road.

Concur. Too much show, nearly no go. And the amount of go you've got baseline is going to be poorly utilized without some track training.

Why would someone invest an insane amount of money to not drive the car to its fullest potential? Driving school is probably one of the cheapest "mods" he/she can do.

Because if I could take a corner very fast after taking this class Id probably get more tickets? That'd be a good reason lol

Usually, knowing how to accomplish something skillfully comes with the added benefit of better judgment on when and where to accomplish that something. This is very often true of driving technique. There's also the not insignificant matter of knowing that, should you ever actually need to take a corner at high speeds for, say, accident avoidance purposes, you're capable of doing so successfully and safely.

OP, do you have a 328i or a 335i? you have mods listed for the N55 and n52, both are completely different engines and not compatible

I messed this modification list up. I am now dead set on the 2011 BMW 328i Sedan.

I won't be posting any modification threads until I have it 100% down (1-2 weeks). Sorry about the confusion here.

A BMW is never just a car.

Back in my old apartment there was this depserate housewife that lived under me and just about every time Id leave she's have to say something like "Oh my gawd yoah caah is so beautiful" or "Oh my gawd I wish I had yoah caaah" till one day I got fed up and I was just like lady, it's just a car. And this was my 328 lol

Why not buy an M3 if you are going to drop that much money on mods?

I'm spending $25,000 on the 328i and ~$12,000 on the modifications. That's $37,000 (including labor). Last time I checked, an M3 is more than that. Besides, I don't like turbos and I'm not here for power; more for looks and sound.

M3's don't have turbos. NA V8 engine. And I'd say an M3 sounds and looks pretty good. You can get an '09 M3 for about that price. Just a thought.

M3s get ~20MPG highway -- I want 30MPG highway, which the 328i does (even better with performance exhaust,intake,tune)

Also, I've always been more interested in upgraded base models than stock top-of-the-line models, just a personal preference.

For my age, where I live, and my expectations of my car, the 328i is the best car for me. Thanks for the suggestions though.

IMO, 30 mpg might be a little optimistic.

Also I say drive a 335. For the amount of money you plan to put into the car, a 335 may be a better place to start as you may want more power not now, but later. 328 is much less complex and likely more reliable than the 335 though.

For some reason, I can't get my head around the twin turbo. I don't like turbo at all. Also, I'm buying a certified used 328i because I can't afford to shell out for repairs after I spend all my money on modifications. And to be completely honest, I'd want to spend the same amount of $$$ on 335i modifications, so I might as well stick to the more reliable, better MPG, less expensive car. I will be very content with the 328i; I don't want more power than that!!! Thanks for all the advice though, guys. I do get where you're coming from, just not ideal for me (yet).

Then get a 330i that is your best choice and do the mod still giving high twenty miles per gallon.
