z3 1.9 blowbye out oil cap
you people have been alot of help to my z3 basketcase car. coolant problem solved tho rough idle and seems to smooth out with oil cap removed yet alot of strong air comming out of valve cover. possible bad rings from all the coolant going through it? all a mystery as didnt run when i bought it. any help out there on this 1?

Could be rings, worn or even broken. Have you done a dry/wet compression test?

Could be a blown head gasket or warped head due to overheating. It could also be a simple faulty CCV valve. I would start with compression test.
Has it been burning oil? Can you smell oil at the back of the car after a drive? Those are signs of a bad CCV (along with the lack of crank case vacuum, which is normally subtle, not "blow out the cap"). |
