I have the full weathertech liners on my X5 (Front, Middle, Rear cargo tray). The two front mats uses hooks that screw to the OEM holes if you remove the velcro for the OEM carpet mats. The weathertechs are great, but are a bit slippery if your shoes are wet.

I'm confused.
So there are: 1) regular carpet floor mats 2) "liners" like weathertech 3) rubber mats (heard these were the best from more than one person). |

These are the WeatherTech FloorLiner™ DigitalFit®. Please excuse the dirt.
![]() ![]() The floor liners come with hooks that screw on to the holes that already come pre-drilled from the factory and holds the liners in place to prevent it from moving around. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have the BMW liners with the xDrive logo on them and they have velcro, not hooks. Maybe the Weathertech originals use hooks and the OEM version BMW sells use velcro? Maybe there have been different version?

I just installed BMW OEM all-weather mats front and rear after looking at both Weathertech mats and Weathertech liners. I have a Weathertech rear cargo mat ordered for the back.
I prefer the OEM velcro mounting in the front and BMW supplies the same type of velcro disks (and full size mounting template) for the rear mats.

That's been one of the problems in this thread throughout: Some are talking about mats, while others are talking about liners. The Weathertech liners and BMW liners are effectively the same thing. Only difference may be how they fasten. But, that may also just be a difference in sales/product cycles. The 2nd row seat liner appears to have no differences. I don't think anyone has claimed the OEM BMW mats are Weathtech... |

OPs title says mat but in the post he mentioned liners. Liners and mats are different things. I have weathertech liners and believe it or not, mine is black color....

yeah the OEM rubber mats are said to be better than liners. I've read that from several people.

Totally understandable! Just wanted to make sure folks were understanding there's a difference.

I'm looking at buying the all weather mats from either BMW or from Weathertech. They are considerably cheaper from Weathertech. BMW cost is $115 for the front, and $95 for the rear seats. Weathertech is $100 for both. The rear mat on shopbmwusa.com is $195, while the Weathertech is $115. Is there some way to get the BMW mats cheaper?

Weather tech makes the liners for BMW. My liners which have BMW badges, were given to me from BMW when I bought our X5. If I look on the bottom of the liner, it specifically states weathertech is the manufacture. If you by BMW ones you are buying rebranded weathertech liners. 100% identical. Personally I don't really care If my BMW does not have "BMW" winter liners.

So does the OEM BMW mats/liners use a velcro attachement for the front or do you have to install the hooks like the weathertech units?
Thanks

The new x-drive mats must have changed how the mats are fastened. Every winter mat/liner from
BMW I have owned has the hooks (5 series, 3 series and X5.

I had the rubber mats before I bought the floor liners. The rubber mats used hooks.

I am getting ready to order the liners in black...and hope that one comment that was made by a member earler about them being slippery when wet is not going to make me regret the purchase...
Thanks to all who chimed in and posting pics.
