6 Series
The BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations. |

Driver side headlight
On my 05 645 the headlight went out so I took it to foreign affairs to take a look they called and said the whole lighting mechanism got wet and shorted out so I need a new one. They told me just for new parts was 2,100 and 2 hours to install. Does this sound correct?

First, did you find the source of the water? Perhaps replacement AE bulbs? Don't fix or replace anything till you find that, or you will pay more than once for this repair. There are 2 modules in each light, one for the headlight control, and one for the adaptive motors. If you are handy you can even fix this yourself but you do need to remove the front bumper so it's involved, but not brain surgery. I would get a good indie as the cost is way out of line. See my other posts here on parts and here on replacement AEs.

yes - there is a good thread on front bumper removal in the DIY section at this link.
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...59&postcount=1 I did it myself a couple of months ago in < 30 minutes, and I'm an office jockey without much DIY experience. I replaced a fog light and housing that got munched by road debris.

You probably have to do both driver and passenger headlights, they will burn differently and look weird, unless you don't care.
Happened on my 00 328ci. Driver side went out, replaced only one side, one was like bright blue, older one was purple, looked terrible, hated it. Didn't have to worry about it too long, totaled it soon after .

Very good point. I am about to change to MTEC6000k for that exact reason. They will never match.
