Sunglasses

Folks, this may seem like a weird thread, but I came from Camry which had a dedicated sunglass holder. What is everyone doing to store their sun glasses. I got the driver assistance package so I lost my driver side glove compartment (all because of 1 button).

Let me know any creative ideas.

Also, seem like I need to be charging my iPhone from the power socket and not usb. So iphone goes into one of the cup holder cubby hole.

Anyways, not use to the lack of space compared to other Japanses make car. But love the performance and electronics.

Well I keep my Ray-Ban's in their case and put it in the door. I slide it back as far as it can go. It hasn't fallen out yet and I doubt it will.

For my iPhone I have a longer cable that still plugs into the USB in the arm rest and can reach the cup holder, most the time i have the cover on it and the iPhone sits perfectly. Just watch out for the cable on the center piece so you dont get any scratches.

Whatever you come up with, good luck

One cupholder phone, the other sunglasses. If I have a drink, both go in one.

Same here, except I keep them as far in the front of the door as possible so that they are easy to reach.

For those of us who avoided the Driver Assist package, there is a great storage space underneath the headlight switch.

I found my phone sits perfectly between the parking brake and the console. There is a little ledge below the hand brake and it prevents your phone from sliding down. If your cable is long enough from the cigarette lighter you should be able to maintain two free cup holders. One for a drink and one for your glasses. There is also a line themed sunshade glasses and cd holder.

If that's the cubby on the driver's side, that's where I keep my sunglasses. Its a secret little compartment that holds my sunglasses beautifully. My Iphone i just put in a cup holder which BMW has finally figured out we Americans want and need. Thank you BMW.

www.ECSTuning.com offers a sunglasses holder that replaces the headliner grab handle on the driver's side.

It's still there. Under the armrest with a place for your phone. In the 2008 model it had a cup holder that had a feature which kept drinks cold. It's a better use of space now in my humble opinion.

So, if I ordered the Driver's Assistance Package I lose this nice little driver's side compartment?

Yes. The controls sit in the spot that the compartment door occupies.

I tuck in one leg of my sunglasses between the top and the sun visor. The little indent there is shaped perfectly to my oakley holbrooks. When im not lazy i put it in its mf case and put in in the door cubby. It moves around too much in the little storage below the headlight switch.

Yep I have driver assist, so I lost this cubby.

I put everything in the glove box, except phone which goes in center armrest.

I never use those dedicated sun glass compartments anymore.

Reason is that several cars ago, I gave it a try, and the glasses would cause a rattle.

I remember being really angry at first, because I just bought a new car, and there was a rattle. But then I quickly traced it to the sun glasses in the holder.

So ever since then, I keep them in a soft case, and store them in the door panel. Works great. No rattle. No problem.

Haven't even tried the dedicated compartments in any car since then.
