94 525i OIL LEVEL SENSOR
So just started getting this message recently, referred to manual. States "See dealer" and Check oil frequently. I just put in a quart the other day, any ideas?

Were you low on oil? If so, the sensor was working correctly. If you were not low on oil, then the sensor may have failed.

Maintain the oil level using the dipstick. I agree that if the light comes on and it IS low, then it is working perfectly. If the light comes on and it is not low then it could be the sensor or the board that feeds the dash display. My car gives odd false warnings randomly. This is usually fixed by repairing or replacing the LKM (;ight control module).
How much oil does it use? My car with 180k, running thin and slippery M1 0w-40, doesn't use any at 5000 mile intervals.

Meh .... my poor attempt at humor.
You know, what was the dipstick reading ? as in a book rather than what level does the oil show on the dipstick? ...... Yeah, I know ..... don't give up my day job
