DTC Problem

My 320i (e90) started to misfire (i thought), down the motorway so I pulled off the sliproad. The revs seemed OK but as soon as I tried to drive it was like i had kangaroo petrol in it. I phoned a pal who told me to press the DTC button for 5 seconds to turn this control off and the car drives fine. As soon as the engine is turned off and restarted I get the same problem, the car will only run properly with the DTC disabled. Anyone know what the problem may be. Some sensor maybe that is faulty?http://s1.bimmerfest.com/forums/images/smilies/iono.gif_a_
