Z3 Roadster (E36/7) Alternator, Wiring, or Battery

Hey All! Just got hit with something this morning that I need some input. Left for work and noticed my guages were acting a bit funny going down the road and some of the dash lights were all starting to flicker. When I hit my brakes to pull into a gas station the whole dash lit up and even the turn signal was flashing double time. I got it back home and will have to look at it later. Is this an alternator going out and the system is surging trying to get juice from the battery? Is this a battery issue and alternator surging when i need more power? Wiring? Just would like some direction before I dive into it. I know I'll have to measure the voltages, etc, but if it's intermitent I would be chasing a ghost. Thanx in advance for your input.

Well, nothing like a fresh Bosch alternator to take care of those pesky flashing dash lights. LOL
