97 z3 dme?

well my friends i am back and pulling my hair out. if u have read some of my other post u would know why. so today i buy a 98 318 for donar organs as it goes everything i interchanges is fine except for the dme. does this not interchange with the z3? they are both 1.9 engines. the z3 runs for a bit but seems like it gets warm and restart is impossible except for a couple of ....welll so tries to start but will not. swapped dme and donar car does not run on it either. am i gonna have a problem swapping motors with the 318 injecters or do i need the 97 injecters. way confused on these cars and ready to off load them cheap. any help before i go back to an old hemi car? mopars are a challenge for sure but nothing like this!

I'd swap the coil pack before the DME. The 318 DME might work if it's the right one, this link has a list of various DME's used and their versions. http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...DME-Repair.htm

Scratch that - the 318 DME won't work in your car unless - 1. It is the exact same P/N and 2. It has been synced with your EWS II anti-theft system. There are people who have found ways to get around the EWS II system but it's not that easy in your case since you're not sure the DME is the problem.

well tomorrow i am gonna pull the engine out. motor has a rattle i cant find as i changed the tensioner and its still there. i purchased a 1998 318i cheap so thats gonna be the new heart for the z3. just wondering if i should use original injecters. at this point i hate to use any of the original stuff. if nothing else a 5k yard orniment!

Both cars use the same injectors (p/n 13641247196)

awsome and i might ask donar comming out of auto trans. will there be a problem with crank as going into a manuel. sounds nuts right but just taking precautions
