fitting on 19" rims fail....
had some spare time so wanted to throw on the rims without tires to see how bad the rims was going to hit without spacers. rims specs are: rear 19x10 +22 fronts 19x8.5 +30.
gave my friend the specs and he told me the front is going to hit the strut and the back is going to hit the arm. 15mm spacers is what he suggested so i have to order those. only thing i'm afraid of is the rear is not going to sit flush when i add the 15mm spacer. in the meantime i picked up a set of project kics extended of bolts from a friend for a killer deal. never really seen lug bolts like this but was informed they are high quality and over $300 for a set. when i have time going to throw on 10mm spacers in the rear and hope the rim clears the arm, but i have a feeling it might not but its worth a try. still very new this car so its pretty fun to do stuff yourself and learn about it and what not. ![]() ![]() ![]()

is that photo of the rear with or without the spacer? because thats going to scrape once it gets a tyre on it i gaurentee it. The E34 suspension still stays relatively vertical as the car is lowered, not a lot of camber is introduced like on other vehicles eg E30 BMWs

ethrty - thanks for the heads up, the rear is without spacers, the car came with eibach springs, the springs was on another e34 of my friends and he was running 19's. he gave me all the info on fitment of the rims so i'm sure i'll be okay but even if rims scrap it doesn't matter cause i don't mind keeping the 17" oem bbs and just adding spacers to make it flush.
i only paid 1/10th of the price for the tires, rims, and lug bolts. and labor is all free from my friends performance shop so i don't mind just throwing it on there and see how it fits. |

yeah, the 19" will work its not really that im worried about. its just the width and the offset. a spacer is 100% definately out of the question unless you are rolling your guards.
there are a few members here than are running wide rims though, they should be able to help you with what they are running sucessfully. i know a 10" wide rim can work but not sure if that was a 19 or what offset was. i personally think 19's are too big but everyones different!

monsignor - thanks for the link, i'm fairly new to whole car scene and for sure very new to the e34. one of the owners from weksos owns two of these so he is the one that is helping me out with all of the info on tire fitment.
practically have everything already, when i have the time just going to drive over to my friends shop and throw it on and see how it fits. worst come to worst i won't put them on and just space out the 17" oem bbs rims i already have on there. |

monsignor - thank you for the clarification. always wondering exactly what these were. friend just informed me that they are hard to come by and people are willing to pay money for them. i plan on keeping them as an extra set since the tires on here still have a lot of treads left.

You're gonna need to extend you fenders in the front. I have 9.5's in the rear. I rub on the bottom locking nut of my coilovers. I'd keep the wheels you have just in case. Personally I like them better than the 19's. Just my .02

just wanted to update and let you guys know that i mounted the tires and fitted the rear, specs are linea corse 19x10 +22 on toyo 265/30/r19 tires with 10mm spacers with 35mm project kics extended bolts. tire/rim sits really flush with the fender. took it for a spin, no rub, have about a finger length if that between tire and fender. fenders are rolled sittog on eibach springs but the rear are chopped from the previous owner.
i'm actually waiting for my 15mm spacers to come in for my fronts, they hit the strut bar without spacers but my main concern was the rear, specs for the front are 19x8.5 +30 on toyo 235/30/r19 i will post pics once the spacers comes in and i throw the set of wheels back on. for now i'm still on my oem bbs, which a lot of people have contacted me, asking if i'm looking to sell but to be honest i actually might keep a spare set around since the tires probably have 90% treat left and i'm looking into redoing the rims. |

So you didmt go the style 42 route... selling?
Pics of the setup meow. My rear fitment is 9" wide +3 offset with 235 tires = fat, stretchy, and rubby. Sent from Joe's Galaxy Tab 2 via BimmerApp

Yes pics please. I actually like the style 42 more than the aftermarket wheel for this particular car. The aftermarket wheel is nice but seems like it would belong on a newer Subie STI or Volkswagon golf. They would work perfect on my G37.

mosignor - i haven't really thought about what route i'm going to go. i mean i have a set of $1300 linea corse that i got a killer deal on and a set of used toyo tires for $60 bucks. so i'm just going to throw it on and see how it like it. i might keep the style 42 set as back up, might get them refinished like you said. plus the tires on them have 90% tread left.
swisscheesehead - haha yeah they are probably more meant for the new bimmers, since they don't even fit unless i get spacers. but when i put on the rear i liked how they looked. but have to wait for the front spacers to come in. really like the black on black look. i might get the style 42 refinished and if i'm going to keep it then redo them black even though i know i will probably lose money value for changing the color. pics coming soon. just got back into town from las vegas. |

![]() ^ THIS!!! I LOVE THESE WHEELS IN BLACK!!! Forget the stockers! I think the new rims look pretty awesome. As far as spacing, I think the rears should be pretty close to fitting without any spacers... the fronts will need 15mm though. So let's see some pictures of them with tires on the car already!

so i finally mounted both front and rear and been driving it for the past couple days. like the way these rims make the car look more aggressive, tires sit more flush to the fender. before i had this car i never really got into cars, but when you're around a bunch of car enthusiast, it rubs off onto you.
monsignor - hahahahaha that had me laughing. i go every year for superbowl with my brothers and our group of friends. back in town for a few more days before i fly out to hawaii for a few days for work, then vacation for a handful of days. also attending my friends car show wekfest in hawaii while i'm down there. gixxerboy - haha thanks, for now i think i'm going to keep these on my car. dreading the day i curb these though the rear i put 10mm spacers and they fit on fine, could've gotten away with probably 5mm but my friend gave me the 10mm spacers. plus the rear sits really flush to the fender. the fronts i used 15mm spacers. could go a bit bigger to make it more flush but it would require me to get even longer bolts. finally had time to upload pictures from my iphone. i will start a new thread to share with everyone. |
