All BMWs New Code: Speed of Mirror Folding During Comfort Closing

Those familiar with coding know that we can have the exterior mirrors fold when comfort closing your car. This requires a long press (1 to 2 seconds) of the “ribbed” area of the door handle.

I personally find this delay annoying. I am usually left behind by my wife as I stand there waiting for the mirrors to fold. Now you can get rid of this delay by changing the following code:

CAS->3003 FH MASTER->KMFRT_SCHLIESSEN->Werte=00 (the default value is Werte=0F)

This results in a much faster folding of the mirrors when comfort closing.

Change the Werte Value only to Werte=00 for no delay.

I have never done any coding and don't have the necessary tools. Is this something that can be done by the dealer?

No, they can not custom Code, only Program.

If you are not interested in learning to code and do it yourself, open a thread asking for help from Coders in Baltimore area to code your car.

Nice! The comment says the units are 100ms, so 0F is 1.5 seconds as a default.

I'll probably set mine to 5 for 1/2 second so that the mirrors don't always close on CA lock, but mirror folding will respond faster.

If 1.5sec is 0F & 0sec is 00 then 0.5sec will be?

Even if you set the werte at 00, the mirrors do not close concomitantly with the CA. There is a fraction of a second before they close, enough time to avoid their closing if you want to. I suggest trying 00 first and see how you like it.

Damn. I don't recall ever running across a word around here that I needed to look up until just now.

If there are any other idiots in the room besides me, "concomitantly" is what we refer to as "concurrently".

This find is good because one of the issues I have been struggling with is the concomitant behavior of the close triggers between the sun shade and the mirrors. I generally leave my sun shade open in the winter months and I hate having it continuously partially shut when I hold the lock a bit too long for the mirrors to fold. Hopefully now I'll be able to trigger the mirror fold without triggering the sun shade close. Great find!

I am not sure if Sharbotcom is also making fun of me, but you said something here that I find interesting.

Do you say that you sunshade also closes with the CA? Can you explain (or should I say expound) a bit how that works in your car?

Actually I'm not teasing you. I've used nonconcomittal in process flow description in the past where an exception may occur in an environment that concurrent or parallel processes would be the norm.

I have the windows and sunroof set to close on prolonged hold of lock button on remote and CA. As part of that process the sun shade closes along with the sunroof. I tried playing with a few of the delay values (the ones between front and rear window closing, etc.) but to no avail. Having the mirror fold activated quicker than the windows close activation will (should) prevent the sun shade from starting to close.

Thanks. I misunderstood. I tough you were referring to the rear sunshade, not the sunroof one. I was hoping to get some clues to get the rear sunshade to close when the reverse gear is engaged. I have been looking for that one for a while.

I use concomitantly all the time, but now that my friends are making fun of me I am afraid.
