Headlight Upgrade

Hello everyone,

I have a 1997 318i. I am looking to upgrade the stock headlight/foglight system. I'm pretty new to the BMW world, so I was looking for some opinions on options (HIDs, angel eyes, etc.).

thanks,

If you're looking to save some coin, go with either Depo's or DJ Auto's from either http://www.ddmtuning.com or http://www.umnitza.com.

If you want the very best, order a pair of ZKW's.

+1. That's pretty much about all there is to it. I'd avoid buying from eBay at all costs (unless buying ZKW from a reputable seller).

DDM Tuning has additional info on their website, such as color spectrum and wattage charts.

I just put in a set of Hella E36 shadowline Ellipsoids, top OEM quality and as good as halogen gets. Found a nice price on Schmiedmann.com.

Wow. Thanks for all the info guys. Very helpful. I have some tough choices to make, though I'm definitely leaning towards angel eyes. That story you posted was excellent. Looks great.

My bad, I hadn't looked for headlamps for several years now. Edited my post accordingly.

ZKW is another great choice no doubt, esp if you want to go HID. Matt, FYI your link to the wiring schematic on the ZKW page looks to be broken.

Get zkw... I bought Depos and all the retainer clips were cracking during installation. Then the angel eye inverter blew.

We have sold ZKW from 2001, we sold BOSCH from roughly 2004 (no longer as it's nearly impossible to get factory units for a reasonable price), and even HELLA (look and act exactly like ZKW) originals. We never sold HELLA replacements (those funky small projector style ones) or any chinese one-piece units.

We have only about 3 sets of ZKW in stock right now, but we have a new order for new stock slated for next week.
