Unhappy muffled knocking/vibration noise while driving

Hi I've searched all over but can't seem to find the problem I'm having with my 2006 530xi

I hope someone has an idea. Here it goes:

I hear a muffled knocking sound (one per wheel revolution) at any speed that seems to be coming from right front side of the car. With high speed the sounds turns into a constant noise (like very noisy tire). Low speed produces same kind of sound (only a bit quieter), turning left amplifies the sound, turning right makes it almost go away. All that is accompanied by a slight vibration of the steering wheel at highway speeds.

A different set of wheels (tires and wheels) did not cure the problem.
Sound does not disappear while breaking.

Any ideas?
Could it be right axle?

I would bet you have something in your tread like a stone or a piece of metal. I had the exact same noise coming from the drivers front. jacked the car and spun the tire to find a rock wedged in the tread and worn flat. Removed the rock, no more noise.

I wish it was that easy. Noise continued even after putting a different set of wheels on it, not just tires.

Dealer says front right wheel bearing is bad. Replacement cost $570. I found a place that would do it for $290.

I'll update if it turns out to be something different.
