Painted Refletors
I think my first mod will be to eliminate the orange front bumper reflectors. What is the best way to go about doing this? I was thinking about just buying painted reflectors, unless there is a better way? I want to black it out. Will I be able to find them in Black Sapphire Metallic to match the rest of my paint?
Edit: Sorry, I should have searched Google first. I found this. Should I order from there, or is there a better option I haven't discovered yet? Thanks, much appreciated!

There are several vendors that sell this product for almost the same amount of money so you are fortunate to be able to choose a vendor for the lowest total cost (product, tax, and shipping). Here are some other vendors:
http://www.jbspeed.com/servlet/the-B...F10/Categories http://sv-concepts.com/bmw/5-series/.../exterior.html You'll see that another set of common DIY modifications are the kidney grilles and side fender turn signal light trim. Most of the vendors will give discounts if you purchase several items, so enjoy! |

Nice, thanks. What is the best way to pop out the stock reflectors?

http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=446611 has a rather lengthy thread which eventually leads to the answer; by removing two screws that hold the forward part of the wheel well's plastic lining you can reach in with one hand and catch the reflector as you push inward with the other. Unscrewing the screws and removing the reflectors should take about 60 seconds....putting the new ones in might take 120 if you are meticulous.

yep, turn wheel, take off the screws, wedge hand in there and push HARD on the offending reflector with the other and the existing 3m tape will start to come loose. Remove it and scrape off the remaining tape from inside the bumper (with most likely your fingers) and then apply the new painted reflector using new 3m tape.

Correct! And by rubbing on the old adhesive inside the fender you can make the adhesive ball up and peel off.

Use a Hair dryer/ Heat gun to soften the 3M tape on the back of the Front Bumper reflector to ease it loose from the car. As stated above, you want to gently push it in. After removing the 2 wheel well screws I was able to get my hand inside the bumper/fender/wheel well both push the reflector in and at the same time pull the reflector loose from the inside so not to put pressure on the plastic bumper. The bumper corner just snaps out and back in easily, as designed to help in the reflector removal process. Once it is removed, clean the inside of the bumper where the reflector is mounted. You must remove all the old 3M tape or else the new refector will not mount flush back in the slot. Make sure to wipe down the relector and inside the well mounting point down with Isopropyl alcohol.
The rear reflectors just snap out from under the rear bumper with no tools required and do not have any 3M tape. I wrapped my Front Orange Reflectors, Rear red relectors, Red 3rd brake light and white side markers with black smoked film. It was only pennies on the dollar for material, easy to do and replacebale or removable any time.

Thanks for the tips! Do I need to put new 3M tape in place after installing the new reflectors?
