Mein Auto: 03 ///M5

Ok So for those that dont know me or my car i have a Supercharged 2002 540 Sport automatic. So since the general rule is autos put down less power because of heat, friction, weight, uses up power blah blah whatever, im looking to how i can tweek my way around this and get the most power down i can..

Im hesitant to even asking this here because it seems there's a lot of idiots but whatever lol.

Should i upgrade the torque converter? Thats one of the only ways i can think of. Does anyone else have any input on what i can do and how i would go about doing this, i dont know much about Upgrading a transmission..

Under the hood....

Hi Lalaray,

This forum I'd suggest isn't the place to ask, mainly due to 'most' owners being more of the oem only type. Extensive modifications like this, should be directed at specialists and tuner's who are well experienced in doing these sorts of things. If you really wanted to, you could re-condition the gearbox for stronger internals, but I vaguely recall the Auto's will handle up to perhaps 475-500 HP in standard form (and a torque figure I can't remember) - research some more on that. How much 'power' are you thinking you want to achieve? look at that, then look at the costs required to get close to those figures and then see what kind of things need to be done.

A supercharged 540i Touring which used to live in LA and is now in the NYC area of which I know the owner who did all the mods and the new owner was an auto, and I think was running around 427 rwhp - so perhaps 500 or so at the crank. It's now since been converted to manual but the engine left as is. The amount spent on doing everything correctly would buy a couple of E39 M5's (in the USA) to give you a ballpark of that level of work, knowledge and warranty etc.

Cheers, Dennis!
