Man, I'm in the search of buying the 5 E60 too. Have you test drive it? Lots of the prefacelifted E60 over 100,000 miles. Idrive is abit under developed. I love the car look but doesn't seem like a joy ride when it's over 130,000 miles.

How long you planning to keep it?

Bro, 152k is a lot of miles and it all depends for how long are you planning to keep it. Remember spending 12k should be worth for a GOOD 5 years, in my opinion, at least.

I said it before; you're buying a $60k vehicle with 150k miles, the repairs will be just as much and your chances for repairs are high.

Your repair bills will hit the amount you purchased for the car at 200,000 miles.

A weak "maybe", but only with detailed service records.

Agree with above. If you buy it, I'd budget a lot annually for repairs / maintenance. And by a lot, I mean at least $2k - $3k a year.

I bought my 2006 550i last year this time with 104K for $12K and have put a crap load of miles on it. So far, the only issues I've had was, battery replacement, and expansion tank (with sensor). The car drives great and looks great too! Mind you, I did add the Rt 66 warranty but so far have only used it for the expansion tank. I cant say whether to buy or not to buy, but I can say that the cars are alot cheaper now adays and that you should be able to find one with less miles for the same price. Another thing to consider is whether not you are a DIY type person or not. If not, then definately look for something with less miles. I am not a mechanic but I will say that I have now worked on all three of the BMW's that I have owned and they are all simplistic thus far. The only thing I've done on this one is change oil, and cabin filters. Bavarian website has plenty of D.I.Y videos. I do plan to do a tranny oil change very soon. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Was the car properly serviced?

Transmission starts to go out at this time if the transmission oil was not changed. BMW recommends a transmission oil change around 100,000 miles. I would recommend one at 30,000 miles and every 50,000 miles thereafter.

It really depends on how the car was kept, driven, and maintained. If it was a well maintained car, it should theoretically be a good car. If it wasn't, then forget it, too many variables. If it was, then you still need to budget some room for unexpected repairs and leaks.

I've seen that car Bro. It even has a nice cigarette burn on the front passenger seat. Should be able to find a nicer 550 with around 100k miles for a good price.
