High mileage X5

Hey Im new to the forum Im looking for some advice on high mileage X5s.
Would you guys consider 160000 miles excessive for a 2005 3.0 diesel engine?
What are common faults for the car and how expensive can they become?
And if I am unable to get a mechanical inspection done what can I inspect myself to ensure there are no major faults with the vehicle? Thanks

The main question you should answer for yourself: who will repair the car? If you handy enough to fix it by yourself its ok to buy, if you will go to $stealership you will possible pay a lot.
All used cars are different and you can pay nearly the same money for descent car as well as for junky one, so choose carefully.

160K mi is not excessive for a diesel engine, IMO.

I just got a 2002 with 138000 k but the engine is 50000 k so.. I'd say no cuz ur vehicle has less issues.
