HU_NBT Video from USB

from a Buddy on a German Forum I got the following settings for activating Video playing from USB.

HU_NBT 3003 API_USB_VIDEO --> both

this enables the menu selection of "movies" in i-Drive for the USB-Device

if you want to play DivX/Xvid contents as well (or Video-cD at that) the following Settings are also necessary.

HU_NBT 3000 ENT_CODEC_XVID --> aktiv

HU_NBT 3000 ENT_CODEC_XVCD --> aktiv

And it definitly digests almost everything you throw at it.
mpg, avi, mkv, divx .....
even at HD Resolution (I tried a cut from a BluRay in 1920*1080p/24) it works perfectly.

Only drawback (so far)
You dont get into the menu for "zoom" (which might be solved by putting that function on a favourite) and the selection of audio-tracks (maybe same recipe will do the trick).

Might be very useful for all you with VIM activated......

there are some similar options in HU_CIC

i believe it was called something like CDMM_video, do a search in your HU CIC and combox files.
It didnt work for me (no combox and no nqavi pro), but its worth checking if it will work on your car.

I do not have HU NBT on f10 2012.

Maybe the dealer should make the new software in car?

In this situation it's more than just software. HU_NBT is associated with the new iDrive system which incorporates the combox et al. into the actual unit mounted behind your stereo controls rather than in the trunk. If you have the new iDrive you will have an HU_NBT rather than a HU_CIC ecu.

OP, great post for additional video options. Just another reason I wish there was a cheap avenue for retrofit.

well, there actually is a parameter in HU_CIC but as far as the reports go it only adds the "movie" or "video" option to the menu in i-Drive but does nothing else.

HU_CICHB_3003_CDMM_USB_VIDEO

should be set to "both"

I had enabled these options some time ago but did not find where to play the videos. Where is the menu for this located exactly?

got a bit of a problem - my car is German Language setup - but lets give it a try:

In the MEDIA menu you select EXTERNAL MEDIA (USB)
there you will see a menu "more media"
and there you can choose
Audio books, Audio Podcasts, and VIDEO

if you choose VIDEO you will see a list of directories/files with video content the unit can play.

the video option SHOULD be there, no matter if there is a playable video on the USB-device or not.
If the format is not recognized it just would not find any playable video and tell you so.

So if the option is not there, something else must be wrong.

Allows videos to be stored to the internal hard drive

I have an ENET cable on order and am not able to make code changes yet but I tried several video formats on my F10 with an Aug 2012 Mfg date and the playback works! I wonder if the factory default HU_NBT settings found by razorback have been changed in more recent productions.

Don't think so.

More likely is you have a snap-in adapter installed.
In this case Video via USB would be enabled by default.

Do you have NBT or CIC Head Unit? If you have HU_CIC, you wont have HU_NBT.

Without HU_NBT, how do I achieve what the OP achieved?

From what I gathered from this thread, 4 settings need be changed/ coded:

***8226; Allow Video Files to be saved to HDD and played from USB + additional CODECs
HU_NBT > 3003 > API_USB_VIDEO > both
HU_NBT > 3000 > ENT_CODEC_XVID > aktiv
HU_NBT > 3000 > ENT_CODEC_VCD > aktiv
HU_NBT > 3000 > ENT_MC_VIDEO_SUPPORT > aktiv (this is import videos to the HDD)

Yes, and also that USB Video is not possible over 6FL USB Port with CIC.

6FL is USB Audio Interface.

Yes. You can retrofit NBT, but after buying the Head Unit, replacing all the FSC Codes, making the Custom Wiring Harness, and installing and coding it, it will be over $5k. Plus, when you go in for dealer programming, you will need to swap it back out for the old CIC unit as ISTA/P will reject it on your build. So, it really isn't practical.

You can though replace the 6FL Aux-In USB port with the AV-In USB Port from the Mini Cooper, and run a FBAS Video line from it to the back of the CIC, probably for around $250.

I cannot set the parametr to FF editing the first field I only have nicht_aktiv, 8km_h and 3km_h
