I also have a 2009 535xi and just got the jb4 but havent installed it yet. I'll post up some impressions and might also post up some pics of the install, but i wont get to install for at least a couple of weeks. Search around though, there are plenty of threads on this, even on n54tech forums.

Absolutely the best money you can spend on the E60. Install it and enjoy.

You can spend five thousand bucks and won't get the enhancement this few hundred buck chip provides. My JB4-chipped 535i is faster than a Porsche Panamera S.

I love my JB4! Everything from the gains, to the easy istallation, to all the different maps they offer, and how easy it is to change the different maps. I love the way my 2010 535i drives when I have the JB4 on. And it's just as easy to turn off the system to the stock map. So many advantages to the JB4, especially for the price!

Only works with the turbo engines, ie N54 found in 135, 335, 535 and 740. Also the 1M.
It's safe to say it transforms the engine output since you pick up 100 BHP and even more torque. So 535 + JB4 = >550.

I'm sure they make some type of ECU upgrade, or chip for those cars, but you won't see the power gains because of the lack of a turbo system. The power gains from the JB4 is due to the boost control. It raises the boost on the stock turbos making for a big gain in power. Won't be able to do that with a NA 6 or 8 cylinder.

Not worth chipping non turbo cars. You can add a supercharger, but that's big bucks. Also kills your gas mileage, though few would care when they are pursuing 150 hp gains.
My advice is don't waste your money on bogus promises. The naturally aspirated engines are tuned pretty well from factory, so there is not much to gain. Turbos are a totally different engine concept.
