Radio Replacement

Hi I just purchased a 1995 740i. It is in good shape with 133,000 miles. I had the car checked out and it has some minor things I need to work on but I am pleased with the purchase. The car rides beautifully. One thing though the radio does not work and I wanted to replace it. I have been looking ob ebay and found the Erisin ES753US. Has anyone purchased one of these or know anything about them?

IMO the standard unit is top quality; and swapping is a PITA as nothing is DIN standard. Consider getting the OE unit repaired. My $0.02.

I've just changed my wiper blades and now my reverse lights don't work. Should I change my fuel pump relay?

I have seen repairers on e-bay for BMW amps and speedo clusters. Maybe one of them could assist, either fixing or knowing who to ask.

Or just buy one in good working order... The audio systems on these cars
are a NIGHTMARE unless you got lucky and dont have DSP. Being that your
car is a 95 IDK weather you do or not.

Personally I plan to swap in a MK4 Nav system from the 99-01 e38, which
requires swapping the entire interior wiring harness.

I would really like to do the iDrive system but it would likely cost more
than I have in the car by the time I got the retrofit and all done.

I-drive E38. Wow. What a great thought. I would have to be the installer's sex slave for about 200 years.

Here is all the info I gathered when I was thinking about doing it... Most of these guys have $2500-$3500 in their setups, some have less because they found parts at the u-pull-it salvage and got good deals and so forth. cheapest I have seen is $1200, If I can gather the parts for under $1000 I will be trying to do it but idk... Also those numbers are with them doing the fab work and installs themselves these are not professionally installed system although most of these guys seem to be somewhat professional.

I would want full integration with the on board computer, nav, back up cam, I would literally want EVERYTHING to work or I wouldn't want to do it.

I am frustrated as I educate myself on what is entailed here. What is the DIN? Ultimately I would like a fully integrated system that works, wi-fi, nav, radio, phone but I maybe wishful thinking. The car runs so nicely that I just want a good sound system. I am going to look into getting the original one repaired.

DIN is the standard size of a stereo head unit. Most car radios are Single Din 1.5 Din or double DIN.

The other part is that most of BMWs stereos are in no way DIN, lol.. They are much wider right to left and shorter top to bottom most of the time.

google is your friend

DIN, Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. (German Institute for Standardization) develops norms
and standards for rationalization, quality assurance, environmental protection, safety and
communication in industry, technology, science, and government, as well as the public domain.

+1 KMM. Maybe H2 has not heard of Google either. DIN also covers seat belt mounting bolt threads, among lots of other things.

Is there supposed to be a link or something to point to "this car"?

He had it for sale a few months ago, but then had some second thoughts. If there is serious interest, I can get you connected but it will likely take 5 figures.
