Cobb Tuner

in everyone else's opinion, is the COBB tuner worth 800 bucks? and is it more easy to install maps on a car than the jb4, with that being said, anyone have a spare one for sale??? hahahaha

I think you just plug the AP in and do it all that way... If so that would be the easiest I know of. I would worry what would happen if you got an error and potentially bricked the car

Wait for someone else to respond lol I'm curious too.

You're not going to brick the car. Tip - contact some of the vendors on E90 and you can get an AP less than $800.

The JB4 is a piggy back which adds an external device into your ECU and the Cobb is a flash that remaps all settings in the car. The Cobb AccessPORT is definitely one of the most widely and most popular used tunes among the community.

The Cobb AccessPORT ECU Flash simply replaces conservative factory settings with more aggressive calibrations that result in impressive gains in torque and horsepower while still maintaining a high degree of safety for your N54 engine. The tuning is extremely flexible and allows you to choose on the fly one of the performance maps that are loaded onto the AccessPORT. Typical performance gains from the Cobb AccessPORT Stage 1 flash are increases of 30% peak horsepower and an amazing 38% increase in peak torque. This tune is an ECU flash, not a piggy-back tuner, there will be no added devices to your vehicle's ECU.

You will get a whole lot more functionality and accessibility with the COBB AP. You do get free software and map updates for life that be downloaded straight from the COBB AP Manager software. Not to mention that the COBB AP does allow for you to do live data logging, trouble shoot and scan codes! Installation is a breeze and is very straight forward. Again, you do get free updates for life and depending on what mods you have on your car, you'll be able to run the various maps that are available. We are an authorized Cobb dealer and definitely take care of all forum members. Feel free to drop me a PM if you guys have any questions at all

See my post in the JB4 questions thread for general info & my own personal results. As for changing maps you have a number of maps 0-8 always in the JB4 memory. They are switched on the fly by pushing the stock buttons on your steering wheel. Complete Firmware & Interface software updates are by a JB4 USB line to downloaded files on your laptop. A complete firmware update takes about 4 minutes to load.

Mr. Vendor, quick question: Does Cobb have a PC interface to allow access, engine parameters? Looking for depth/breadth; hand held control for that's impossibly limited.

USB 2.0?

Also, post a link - would like to view.

Violà! Found Accesstuner Pro, but it's $3,000.00. Bit much. Very, very capable, however.

Then found AccessTuner. Interesting....looking into it. Does it come with every AccessPort?

OK, best I can see, the AccessTuner is AccessTuner Race, not on the market - Beta code only and runs only on latest model AP's. Guessing the finished product will be >=$3,000.

Boys & girls, decide for yourselves what you want. What say you?

Gotta say, still a major advantage. Switchable at any speed without taking hands off the wheel, convenient & best I've seen. Nothing to plug in, fumble with, or [Disaster!] lose.

No reprogramming time. Pass-through [stock] map instantly available. Or any other map. Especially useful with Meth. Pick yer poison, no worries eh!
