E70 X5 35i Performace package

Does it effect the gas mileage? My guess is yes.

What do you think M sport performace package owners?

If the HP and torque is increased (I recall you bump it by 8%) then yes, it will use more fuel. Not a lot more, and depends MOSTLY on how it is driven.

The real question is, is it worth it?

That's what they say you get, based on dyno's of the other models N55 M Performance kits, it's more then that.

Like Ard said, mileage it all dependent on how much you get into it.

At $100 per hp, that makes Dinan look like a bargain....which I thought was impossible.

E70 X5 35i Performace package

I drove regular 35i and it was pretty strong. I did drive x50i and loved it but people here complain a lot of its gas mileage.

I m not fuel saver type of guy but at the same time, would hate to see mileage in low teens.

I paid more attention to suspension etc and got m sport package and passed on performance package.

The M Performance exhaust is worth the $1600 alone, but who knows if they've straightened that out at the factory yet. I had to get mine put on at the dealer after the fact. I've had a 50i M Sport as a loaner so had the opportunity to drive them back to back and I prefer the 35i M Performance. The base 50i didn't really feel that much stronger but the weight difference was noticeable. It is stronger, don't get me wrong, but if you go M Performance or Dinan with the 50i, it becomes a beast. Once you start optioning them out the price difference between the models becomes negligible, so it depends on what you want.

I only have a small clip at idle, one of these days I'll need to do a video of a cold start and of it under load.

Honestly I couldn't tell difference between regular and performance 35i exhaust. Yes there was obvious difference between 35 and 50i exhausts but I found 50i exhaust too loud and not refined.....just my opinion.

35i sounded and felt more balanced to me.

There's a night and day difference between the M Sport and the M Performance exhaust, I'd be very surprised if the vehicle you thought had the M Performance exhaust actually had it, if you couldn't tell the difference.

Here's two I did this morning, first is a cold start and the second is giving it some revs after I had it out and warmed up, had the phone too close and the exhaust blew it over.

Like Ard said, mileage it all dependent on how much you get into it.
That is some impressive number from the boost. Then again the standard engine runs larger than the quoted specification anyways. As for the fuel economy, the EPA rating has to reflect the model including the M performance kits. So I don't think it make too much a dent unless you drive like you are on the track all the time.

I have been flamed before for quoting EPA. Like all things, your mileage will vary. The EPA rating is surprising detail in their testing methodology.

I would not personally spend $1.6k for the upgrade.
