Swap My Brushed Aluminum Trim for Wood Trim

I just picked up a new 2012 X3 35i M Sport (yes it's brand new, 35 miles) which has the Brushed Aluminum trim on the doors, instrument panel and center console.

I know it's a long shot, but is there anyone out there who has the Fineline Wave or Fineline Siena trim who wants to trade for my Brushed Aluminum? I can order the wood trim pieces but they are pricey.

I'd prefer the Siena but would consider the Wave.

You would have to have the SPORT automatic transmission as comes with the M Sport in order for the center console piece to be compatible with mine. The other 5 pieces are the same for all F25 models. If you have the non-sport transmission, we could still trade the door and instrument panel pieces and would need to buy only the correct center console piece.

Yes, discounted price for all 6 pieces in Siena is $770.66.

Not sure what discount you got but if anyone is a BMWCCA member, some dealer parts departments provide approximately 10-20% discount, depending on the part.

I also have brushed aluminum and would love to trade for wood trim. However, I heard the trim pieces on the door aren't trivial to remove. I didn't confirm, but they aren't pop in/pop out, but rather screwed in from the opposite side so you'll need to remove all 4 door panels to remove the 4 pieces of trim. Can anyone confirm this?

Is there something about the Aluminum Trim you don't like? (Have an order for the black leather and aluminum trim...interested to see what your thoughts are)

Personally, I just don't like the look. I prefer the looks of the wood.

Deedward- I have calls into 2 Dallas dealers and haven't received a response- have you gotten a quote for installation on top of the $770? Thanks!

Goto realoem.com and enter the last 7 digits of your VIN. Then browse the parts to get the part numbers of the trim pieces you want. Then take those part numbers to www.getbmwparts.com

Just the plain silver painted trims, they look really cheap.

I finally received a quote from BMW of Dallas- they priced the trim components separately at around $1000 total and another $700 for labor which seemed highly excessive! I'll try the guy recommended in Dallas for labor but I'm curious how deed ward got the $770 quote- was it as a package? Do you have the part number(s). Thx.

I got my prices from Passport BMW in MD. I have ordered from them before and they provide great service and good prices as far as I can tell. The parts were priced individually. The prices from GETBMWPARTS.COM are very similar, some higher, some lower and total about $20 less.

I'd check with Joe. He may be able to get them cheaper...but, you'll have to pay for tax and maybe shipping.

I changed e92 aluminum to carbon .... $680 on eBay Taiwanese made but top quality.... Piece of cake to change 45 min work max

I'm biting the bullet and having the trim switched out next week. If anyone is interested in the aluminum- great shape, 9 months old- just let me know.
