208K and its time to say goodbye.

I just heard back from my mechanic, my 95’ 525i with 208,000 miles has a blown head gasket. The leak down test shows piston #3 blows air into radiator and #5 & #6 have excessive oil ring wear. My mechanic does not recommend replacing the head gasket which he priced at $1300 (minimum best scenario) because of the engine wear and car value.

So I need people’s thoughts here….. What would you do?

I see two options;
A). Sale the car, as is for parts and how much should I get?
B). Invest in a head gasket job, increasing its value again and sale as a used car and how much should I get?

Just do engine swap. The car is worth what ever you can get for it. Pricing for these cars is all over place but nice examples can bring 2500 to 3500 easy if you want more be willing to wait for the right buyer

get a new M50. they are cheap as chips. get it running then sell or keep

if you are going to keep, you may like to do the water pump and belts and thermostat etc while you are at it, could even go so far as coil packs etc too. but thats only if you want to and not essential.
