Proper oil for florida, and BMW

Hey guys, me again, I know I keep starting new threads.

For florida (Temps at around 89 - 96, depending on the time of year) what oil should I be putting in?
My first BMW while doing my tune-ups etc, I want to be sure as to what oil to use, and what other things I should be using..

I'd use 5W-30 but i'm sure there will be a ton of other opinions as to weight and temps and all of that.

Are Bosche spark plugs at walmart decent to use for my tune-up?

Bosche are very good. I also like NGKs. Bosche are what come from factory, and a Bosche is a Bosche no matter where you get it. Just make sure its the right one...

Get and air filter why you're at it

Read the hand book. It gives the correct weight of oil for your engine for all ambient temps. Also try the various oil company's help lines. I use Castrol GTX2 in my E23, Castrol Modern Engine 15W 40 in my (Knackered) E30 318, Castrol Magnatec in my E38 and BMWLL001 in my MINIs. Castrol EPXX in the various diffs. Gearboxes - only done the E30 - EP80.

The fact is, oil choice will have very little effect on the engine. Engines do not fail from wrong oil choice, they can fail if you just plain do not change it.

I run BMW approved Mobil 1 european formula 0w-40 year round.

I would not go for Bosch platinums, just get the Bosch supers, their basic plug.

Performed oil and spark plug change, the lifters no longer ticking, oil pressure sensor light is gone!

Performed smoke test on her, she has a vacuum leak, found the hose, will replace tomorrow when a auto parts place is open.

Also the new oil filter I bought does NOT have a nipple on it, I put the old one back in to run it, so I need to know where I can buy one with a nipple or if I need to reuse my old nipple?

Oil filter nipple? New one on me. Some U S spec thing? Pix? Glad the service fixed problems - see, we speak the truth about maintenance being a GOOD thing!!

thereis like an extra piece to the filter at the top..

look at the part number on the box or bag and google "BMW P/N 11-42-__________"

See if it comes up "540i" or "M60B40"

Sometimes they forget to put 2 of them on the filter , I have encountered this a few times , that's why I check all orings are there and brass washers . Don't put the old one back !
