Front right side collision - advice needed

Hi all - obviously new to the community and I am so due to some unfortunate circumstances.

Poor X3 was in a collision (teenager turned into us) about 2 months ago and we just got it back from the repair shop. It suffered damage to the front right bumper and front right quarter panel.



Before I go back to the shop griping about some things I want to know if some of the repair methods are normal as I do not know as much about this stuff as folks on here do.

There appear to be numerous places where they sawed under the hood and then put some kind of sealant/paste on the joints. I imagine they had to do this to get the piece off, however, I figured it would only be bolted/welded on. I have only taken a photo of a few places but it appears to be on both the left and right sides all the way up and won the car. Damage was only done on the right hand side AFAIK.






Please let me know if this is common in front end collision repairs.

TK088 would be a great one to ask on this since he has done a ton of work on the X3 that was brought into his shop.

I believe those are the factory joints and factory PVC sealant making those area water tight.

Below is a picture of the PVC sealant application prior to paint.

Thanks for the quick reply - As you can imagine everything is under the microscope as I want to make sure it was a good repair (reputable place but you never know)

Agree check with TKO as well they are virtually rebuilding an X3 in their shop. Very educational series of photos. You got off lucky compared to that driver!

You will have to forgive my nubness... what/who is TKO? I did a quick search on here and google and didn't see anything pop up. I would certainly like to see the rebuild.
