heated seats..

due all new bmw come with heated seats but the dealer can delete that option from there computer... i am buying a new one and it has option z15 heated seat deletion.. what the hell does that mean. and if so can i get them reativated at a later date

If you're in the US, no. Heated seats are a $500 option or part of the cold weather package.

If you live in a climate that has more warm days than cold, it's a cool option but not worth it.

"Heated Seat Deletion" - never heard of it, ask your dealer. It may be that the cost of heated seats has been deleted, not the actual heated seats themselves.

"Reactivation" - no, if your car doesn't have heated seats you can't do anything about it. They are completely different seats, they have a spider-web of heating elements and wires in them, they connect to buttons your car wouldn't have.

I don't need them. My wife and kids, different story.

I tried to order my car without heated seats and my dealer said he had to add them to my order, no charge, because if I cancelled he'd have a car he couldn't sell in a million years.

Very funny, these NYC vicinity types. Must have XDrive (for 3 days of true snow) and must have heated seats (for all 10 days that are truly bitter cold).

Based on the original post, I am guessing that heated seats come standard on Canadian cars, unless they are specifically deleted (although I do not have direct knowledge of this). I think heated seats would be a desirable feature virtually anywhere in Canada.

Heated seats are great for sore lower backs. They have far greater value than just warming up the car.

I would pay $1500+ for cooled seats.

yes i live in the Calgary Alberta area, and it gets down to -40 here... damn! so heated seats are a must.. but the car is equiped with a heated steering wheel.. go figure! and after hockey its really nice on my back...

I've had them before. They are overrated. They make you feel like your back is soaked with sweat more than anything else.

I don't know. The cooled Recaros on my CTS worked great. I'm going to miss them and the remote start the car had. They were great when walking out of the grocery store with the temp at 95, and the humidity just as high. Mash the button on the remote, walk to the car, load the groceries into the trunk, and then enter a pre-cooled car with cooled, ventilated seats. Perfect!

This is not a reply to OP - but I love heated seats. Had them in rentals for 2 and 3 weeks separately. Went to Ottawa for work, and rental had that. Loved the feeling that while the car was just started from a night out in snow and ice, and engine was getting warmed, the seats would make my a** warm when the ac is still out cold! The feeling of having at least something warm when everything else is cold - is priceless...

same here.. i turn them on when i first get in the car and once the cabin is at my desired temp, i'll turn it off

i guess, in the end, i didn't really need them.. but do we really NEED any of these creature comforts?
