Never mind, just looked it up, looks like it's by hand, nice.

So last question is do I need to make sure the car is stripped of all waxes before applying it? Or is it okay to apply while some wax still remains on the car?

'Cause I figure this Sealant will last several months, not to mention the wax I've already applied on top of it.

Your car looks stunning. I have an imperial blue 550i and I'm anal about keeping the swirls and scratches away. If you are looking for a good product that will fill in swirls and minor scratches prior to your next correction, I highly recommend poor boys black hole. It can be applied by hand, is very easy to work with and makes the car look like it was just compounded. Follow up with a paint sealant like Optimum Opti Seal and it will lock in the shine and provide an excellent layer of protection. http://www.autogeek.net/poorboys-bla...how-glaze.html. RE: Poorboys Black Hole - I wonder if this is the stuff my old detailer used to use. He had it in another container with a skinny nozzle (I assumed he transferred to the unmarked bottle himself) and it would literally fill in scratches for like a week or so. The color of the glaze was like a very dark charcoal/black but when applied on the car it was unreal the scratches were invisible for like a week. I was never able to find the stuff and I wonder if this is it. If so would be awesome to apply to a car prior to lease return.

I've used 3m imperial hand glaze. Works awesome at hiding scratches. Lasts about a week or so. I would just buff out the scratches and put opticoat on it personally.

Your spoiler looks good. Now I'm undecided so I may buy both...the M5 spoiler and the aggressive one you have. The price on both is so cheap then ill decided in person. I'm used to the Benz ones costing $300.

Kar Don: And yes, I will be getting that something like that done soon. My goal is to just do "my best" i.e keep it clean while not screwing it up by way of too many swirls, and then in like 6 months, give or take, do a detail by calmly picking and choosing the best approach. In the meantime I will wash/wax it often enough. California Car Duster it every now and then and cross my fingers that it doesn't make things worse, etc.

Diesel: Yeah I really dig this wing. $74 shipped and painted is unreal. M-B aftermarket wings were indeed more expensive, even the cheap ones. BMW's heavy enthusiast and modification base really does wonders when it comes to having variety and a nice savings-factor when you want to mod.

And because I want to milk this detail for all it's worth:

Stop teasing me with these pornography pics of your car. I look on bmwusa every damn day waiting for an update. Probably another 6 weeks. Can't wait to take pics at the detail shop right after they do new car prep paint correction.

Hahaha. I envy you guys who can wait through the waiting process. It must be a nightmare! When you get this baby it will all be worth it and then some though! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts considering you're coming from the same side of the tracks that I was on as well.

Yeah you are my guinea pig so I will know what bugs and issues I may or may not have to deal with. One thing though I am getting the car coded right away for only $60..can't wait. Will have so many cool features and get rid of a lot of annoying ones.

I am so glad I waited, I almost pulled the trigger with a car on the lot a few weeks ago but I would have settled and gotten dark wood dash trim instead of the anthracite which I really wanted. So my car will be exactly like I want it now when it is delivered to the dealer. I have ALWAYS gotten the car on the lot closest to what I wanted but no more..I can wait it out...and not having a new black car in the winter is a win right there.

See for me, the monochromatic look (all black) dulls the beauty of black. The great think about black is the contrast with pieces of chrome, and glass. Like a work of industrial art. Again just me.

I agree, no black rims, no black grills etc. I hate when people black everything out I feel as if they totally ruin the car. A lot of the teenagers do that around my area. This is of course my opinion.

Nice, always good to have the exact setup you want. This car was Optioned EXACTLY how I wanted the F10, down to the dollar on the MSRP, but I wanted white (or silver as it's easier to maintain).... then all of a sudden, the thought of a black F10 and how bad@ss that would be just consumed me.

What's the coding thing about? I have to go to the Dealer to get it?

Dealer won't do coding no..it's sort of like hacking so they won't do it for you. You can learn more on the coding forum here and do it yourself or save the stress and find a local in your area who will do it pretty cheap.

I think we're talking specifically about 3M Imperial Hand Glaze? Not your typical "glazing" product, like ultra-shine. I've used it a couple of times on my various cars. IIRC, you use it first, then wax. Then again, maybe the reference to "3M glaze" was another product. Go here to read up on a lot of good products, not so many you see in your typical auto department section. Larry is a great guy and will answer your questions.

Yes the 3M hand glaze. Been using it since the early 90's.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have just got the entire car clear bra'd. My entire front end, hood, and fenders were done and swirls are a non issue there. Just a hot bath, spray on wax and its done, like glass, no swirls....I may have the rest done in the spring if the installer is reasonable.

Yeah KA, read through the W212 forum on MB World and some of the thrashing you've had. I had two of those massive pieces of scheisse. There is no comparison between the two cars. The E-class is a problem-ridden car and most MB dealer service blows. My last W212 was bought back.

People can grump and complain about going to the dark side, but the F10 is superior. I dont' give a scheiss what anyone says. I've had two W212's and two F10s. Both of my W212's were in the shop constantly. Look how many posts there are about rattles for crying out loud. I bet your BMW is pretty silent with no rattles.

My F10 550 has not been in the shop since taking delivery new in July 2012. My 2nd W212 sat at the dealership for 22 days within the first 400 miles due to some problems. The F10 has some things I'd improve on, but I can't see where E class driver can really complain about the F10.

Thanks very much man!! It is INSANE how bent some of those guys there about me going to a BMW. Funny thing is I'm not even going near trashing the W212 there.... yet my presence with this beautiful F10 in my Avatar there alone simply has a few of them so peeved they're asking that I "leave". There are some great people there as well, but the Bimmerfest group is kind of like a large concentration of the best apple's there grouped into one place, IMO, lots of helpful people here who aren't ashamed to indulge in why they come here: Unabashedly adoring their CARS!

That's funny, I actually came from two W212's as well. Mine were actually reliable but YES, rattles galore that came and went, and very rough riding over rough surfaces. Incredibly, this F10 on 19's (Merc had 18's) AND RFT's AND while riding still considerably sportier, is even smoother and goes over bumps much more solidly, quietly, and smoothly.

I'm a bonafide believer. BMW really made the car Mercedes always wanted to, IMO.

Hmm I never had an issue with my w212 and love every service place I've ever been too, they do whatever you want..don't charge for wiper blades..buff out scratches for free etc. I hope the experience with BMW is equally as pleasing.
