Time from order until production begins?

Ok I just contacted my dealer. He said its week 4 of Jan. They get the week but not the exact date so it could be any day from now.

I trust my dealer. I shall wait and see.

I had the bizarre opposite experience.

My car was supposed to go into production on 6/3. When I started calling the number, I found out it actually started on 5/28 and was on it's way to port by 6/2. It was delivered to the dealer on 6/22.

Could not have been more of a lightning fast process.

typical voyage from bremerhaven to NY is 14 days, and depending on the train schedule from the plant to bremerhaven, its usually 10 days from end of prod.

this is the current ship schedule, there are only two boats that leave after the 29th and arrive before march 1:

it will be very tight to get on the manon. my car was built in munich, ended production on the 22nd of november, didnt make it onto a boat until 12/1.

if your dealer is reasonably large, getting there by 3/1 if you make the manon is pretty likely. if you make the don juan, then i would say its pretty unlikely.

OK, I just called for Vehicle Production Status, and the car is in transit across the ocean. This is new info as of yesterday, and according to your post above, it must be on the Don Juan.

Now I am trying to figure out how to track the Don Juan. When I go here:

And type in Don Juan, the only ship I get is one under a Singapore flag that is moored in Zeebrugge and does not appear to be slated to go anywhere anytime soon:

nope, thats the right ship. on marine traffic, untill the ship leaves the port, it wont list the next destination.

Thanks for providing this, but how do I ask it to search for the VIN? There is no enter or search button of any kind, and it won't submit when I press my "Enter" button. It just sits there.

no, while its within coastal waters, you can track the ship by ais, but once its on the open ocean, you may or may not get updates that are radioed in by the ship

for some reason the link is flagged, but you can also track the ship via wwwsailwx.info add a . between www and sail
that site sometimes updates while the ship is on the atlantic

What are people experiencing for waiting times from signing contract to delivery for UK cars?

What does this mean? My car is on Supreme Ace. Is the ship going from Germany to South Africa to pick up more cargo? It looks so to me because a few days ago the phone system was confirming the car was already at sea. Hmmm...

...or was I mislead into thinking my 335 is being made in Germany while in fact it was being built in SA?!? I can't find any other info about this ship's route on marinetraffic.com

More info, when I check the vessel's schedule at this link: http://www.molroro.com/MOLVesselSchedule.aspx it shows info for trip 10A which according to my CA at Princeton BMW is the trip that the car is on. Ssooo... I am now 90% sure the car was made in SA not in Germany as I was originally told. It doesn't really make much difference as long as everything works the way it's supposed to

The vessel is to leave SA tomorrow and arrive at Brunswick, GA on March 19. I am doing PCD so this would mean my pick up won't take place in March anymore, more like early April
