Hi guys! I'm new to this forum. I'm happy that I can join you!
I just buy BMW E34 520i 24V and already got a question about it! Its really hard to move my gear shift from one shift to another. It's not the way it switches, the gears goes in very smooth, but the path between them ( I mean when you pass from one gear to another and you move the gear shift) it's real tight! What can be the problem? Ask if you got some vaguely I shall try to explain my problem more precise. |

Sounds like a sloppy shifter. I would look into the linkage and make sure its all tight. Also be sure your bushings are in good shape. Replace if worn.
I have a question for you. Does the Z33 in your username have anyhing to do with the 350Z? If so, we just became best friends... Sent from Joe's Galaxy Tab 2 via BimmerApp

With the unit out you might be able to get similar leds from Dick Smith/Jaycar or who ever you get electronic components from.

Hello again to everyone BMW maniacs! I got 2 very easy questions for you .... I got adjusting steering wheel but I CANT adjust it, also I don't know how to reset my daily odometer. I already try everything to pull and push my steering wheel ... but it does not move an inch! Also I try to reset my odometer by pressing it ..... and waiting ... but again nothing. Here are the pictures of my steering and my odo.

Thanks for the pics. Very helpful in answering your questions
First the steering wheel adjustment. Are you trying to tilt the steering wheel? If I'm not mistaken, the E34 only has the telescoping function on the steering wheel. So with the lever as shown in your second picture, pull the steering wheel straight out. As to the odometer reset, it appears that the knob that you push has been broken off on yours. It is the button located between the fuel gauge and speedometer. Hope this helps.

(Sorry for the too big pictures IDK what's happened) For the wheel I tried everything to no avail; I even tried pulling the wheel together with a friend.
And for the odo. the knob is broken but I can push it with thin screwdriver ... may be I mus turn it left or right? For how long time I must press it if the pressing does the job? |

Thanks a lot, I shall try again and again : ) Did some know how to accurate remove intake manifold, because somwhere under it there are probably torn hose. The engine take too much air from there and this mess up the regular engine work.

You will have to remove and take apart the cluster to find out whats wrong with it. Sounds like the rod that pushes the button on the circuit board is physically broken.
As for the wheel adjustment, look for this large gold colored nut near the pedals: ![]() Get your friend again and a monkey wrench. PUt the monkey wrench on the nut and hold it in place while your friend turns the steering wheel. You want to loosen the nut enough so that the adjustment will work, but not too much that the steering will have too much play. Last edited by paperplane94; 01-21-2013 at 02:18 PM. |
