Good to be here!
Greetings all!
New guy around here, but not with my first BMW. Just picked up an '06 330xi from my brother the day before New Years. 71k on the odometer, Sparkling Graphite paint. Runs great! I know I will have questions... My last BMW was a '85 325e with manual trans. That was my favorite daily driver. Sold with 220k to a kid for $250 (stereo was $1000) he wrecked it within 6 months (he's okay!) Cost me very little and got great gas mileage. R.I.P. My toy is a '71 TR6 Triumph with three carbs, six gears to choose from, cam, lightened flywheel, roll bar and konis. Likes to top 100 every outing. Also have a '03 Chevy Suburban with an 8.1 liter (496ci) 4x4. Actually, I think the 330xi will do good in the snow up here in NY as long as it's not too deep. I was a "Heavy Mobile Equipment Technician" with the U.S.A.F. (Retired). Fire equipment, aircraft towing, high reach, refueling stuff. Kept it interesting... I perused the forum a bit, and I'm sure to take advantage of all your knowledge. Until then... |

Triumph modification
One of the FIRST things I do to Triumphs ( I've had 5) is fix the Lucas stuff. Relays to the headlights, photo-electronic ignition, extra groundings all over, and lots of di-electric compound.
As far as the Whitworth hardware- not too much on mine. Mostly S.A.E. After my year they started with metric brake pipes and the likes, but this is the newest I owned. Last one was a '55 TR2 with 7 gears forward. The rest were TR4s, and a new '66 TR4A IRS. Did I mention I was half English ? Cheers! |
