Reset oil light

Hi my name is Oswald does any one know the ease way to reset oil light in 2003 525 I ?

Do a search on this forum. Search for oil+reset+pin.

You can also reset it by unlocking and using the cluster.

The PO has a later E39 ... but for folks that have earlier E39's where resetting via the cluster is not an option, there is a cheap reset tool available via flea bay for ~ $5. Ships from asia (Singapore?) so lead time is about two weeks.... yeah, I know I can reset using a 6 in piece of 14 ga wire, but I figure the tool is cheap insurance that i won't accidentally stick the wire in the wrong pins and short something expensive out.

pins 7 and 19 on the onboard hook up port.I use a length of wire or a paperclip with the car in the "on" position, connect the 2 pins for a few seconds and viola.

Just be sure to only connect 7 and 19. Double, triple, quadruple check or get ready for a world of trouble. If you are close to me, I'd let you use my peake tool for free.

+1 .... there is a thread out here of some poor bloke who crossed the wrong pins after changing the oil .... cost him a bunch of $$$ and time to diagnose and fix the problem...he almost parted the car out.

Guess I should have been more specific... Any combo other then 7 and 19 and your car will self destruct in 5..4....3...2...

Don't need to unlock the cluster:

He's got an '03 which shouldn't have a port under the hood, they went away in '01, so he can't do the pin 7 and 19 reset.
What Doru posted is the way to reset it.
