SuperSprint Muffler meets 530i, please advise.

Hey guys,

So it hasn't been too long since I got my new struts installed. Everything's going great! Shoutout to rdl for his expertise.

However, I'm facing a dilemma at the moment. I have a deal (well, I think it's a deal) on a SuperSprint muffler with 20k miles for $385 shipped. It's the one that has the black can and from what I can see in the pictures, there's no dents.

The question that I have been searching and Googling like crazy to find an answer to is:

Is it okay to buy this muffler with 20k miles on it? I have heard and read everything from "the muffler packing comes loose" to "it's a great deal!" In the end, I come back to my trusted Bimmerfest members for advice.

Another big issue for me is drone. I will admit that I don't know too much (or anything at all) about exhaust characteristics. I have read horror stories about the horrible annoying noise an exhaust mod can make at normal running RPM's.

I am looking for a sound that only comes on at the higher RPM range. The last thing I need is a can that puts out 95 dB's at idle.

I'm ready to have my bumper notched but I will opt for a Corolla before I have a drone-mobile.

Thanks for all your help, guys.
I rep this forum like no other.

Have a good one.

If you're merely changing the backbox you should be drone free. Leaving the other original silencers on, will probably give you a slight grunt in higher rpm's.

As for lifetime of the exhaust; does supersprint use stainless steel? If so I recon you could use this for many more miles to come
