Mein Auto: 2004 325xi
2004 325xi code p0303/p0304

I changed my spark plugs and cleared the codes and a p0303 code came up. Switched coil pack and the pO304 code then came up. Idle is very rough and quits some times.

Classic coil diagnosis. The coil you moved probably needs to be replaced. Make sure the contacts are clean and it's not just because some crud got disturbed in the shuffle or something.

What kind of plugs did you put in?

Auto lite XP xtreme performance iridium.

I also noticed some oil around the coil packs on the valve cover

Thanks,

Probably not the plugs. Bosch used to be a problem, as odd as that sounds.

Oil in the plug wells? You will likely get misfires from that. Or on top of the cover? *might* get a misfire from that, but probably just means you need a new valve cover gasket.

Don't do Victor Reinz brand gasket.

And have you replaced your crankcase vent CCV?

Once you get above 80k miles, it's recommended to change out the CCV, hoses and clean the dipstick tube drains at the same time you do the VCG. If the ccv is clogging, it can cause the vcg seal to leak due to higher head pressures. The ccv clogs sooner in colder climes, unless you don't drive much in the colder months and regularly get the car up to temp for longer than 20 mins a shot.

Write up in the wiki.
