94 318i no fuel no spark??? wtf??
need help....checked fuses found the ecm fuse blown, replaced it no change..no fuel no spark...any ideas???

Cam position sensor or crank position sensor. The ECU can't "see" the engine turning, so it doesn't fire the injectors or the plugs.

but i am not hearing the fuel pump buzz???? how do you test the crank and cam sensor? thanks

Since the ECU thinks the engine is off (and it is, since it won't fire) it won't turn on the fuel pump except for the initial 2-3 second priming run. If you've already tried cranking it, the line pressure is up and it won't run at all.
Go here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=466604 Right-click on the "This" in "This one went missing" and 'save as'. It's a Bentley E36 manual. That will take you through the diagnostics of testing the position sensors.

problem solved!!! turns out I had poured dishwashing liquid on the belts because they where squeaking a bit and it gor on the crank and must have gumed up the teeth or the sensor, anyways I sprayed brake cleaner on the crank and started right up...thanks horn!!!

Dishwashing liquid? Really? ![]() (next time use belt dressing spray...or better yet, fix why they squeak...tension, alignment or worn belt/pulley)
