Brake lights

Hello, I have a 97 740iL. Both my passenger and driver side brake lights are always on. The 3rd brake light in the window is the only one that works when I use the brakes. The two lights don't work when the lights are off, but when I turn on the lights the pass and driver side are always one. I'm kinda stumped here any suggestions???

It sounds like the light control module (LCM) is defective. Never had to fix mine but read about the problems. Try: Remove; terminal and earth clean and refit B4 you replace it. Also check out the wires connectors and earth points in the boot. You could find the problem or fix it with out seeing anything wrong.
