O/T : Paypal

I'm asking this question because many of you seem to do a great deal of online purchasing and Ebay buying.
Is Paypal secure and the best way to complete transactions especially with people you dont know?
I'm thinking about opening an account but want some HONEST and FACTUAL comments on this before I do anything. Thanks
P.S. Please only respond if you ACTUALLY use Paypal,..please no "hearsay". This is very important to me.

It is 100% secure. Make sure to confirm funds have cleared your actual bank account prior to shipping if you are the seller.

I have had a PP acc for years and its made me money, helped me buy everything online and never had an issue. Best thing is all your info is stored there and it saves you from entering your billing info to sites and sellers where things may be unsecured. My wife put her bank card in to buy something on a site a few years ago and ended up losing all kinds of money, she got it back though... She would have been better off with Pp.
Private sales and stuff you should be careful with because thats not really on them.
I have a premier account with Pp and have had mine for 7 years and i have no complaints. So yes they are trustworthy with your bank info and etc.. I have NEVER had an issue.
Hope that helps with your decision.

Thanks 745iGuy,...sounds pretty convincing. I want to be able to purchase from you guys on here and other sites like Ebay. Does the other party have to have a PP acct as well?

Yes they too need an account. Purchase transactions are secure as you can even enter shipping info and etc. if theres ever a problem they will intervene. That is on physical items not digital/virtual things like music/software etc unless ofc from itunes etc

Ok kool. I read their website (Paypal), but just wanted some real opinions from actual users.
I think I'll fill out the application form online and see how I feel about it from there. Thanks to you both.

Paypal is the ish!! Been using it for years!! Its secure and you and the other party have "protection" via their terms and conditions. Trust you'll like it.

lol. If I remember correctly you will have a limit. I'm not sure what it is but you will know when you have reached your limit because it will ask you to verify your bank info. At that point instead of the $ coming from your debit card or credit card it will be a instant bank transfer. Also if you go to purchase something it may take 2-3 days for the person on the other end to receive the funds until your account has been verified (only on your 1st transaction). This is what I went through a few years back but not sure if you will go through the same.

They sent me an email a few minutes ago stating that a deposit in my bank account has to be verified or something like that.
I'll just take my time and go thru the process. Thanks for all the info.

I would rather link it to a credit card instead of a bank account if i were you. I have one linked to my credit card for extra security. It's like having double protection.

Also...PayPal IS a good tool to use to pay for things over the net BUT you also have to focus on the seller...look at there rating...me personally I don't buy from anyone with a rating of 97 or lower (that's just me).

I just bidder on a broken logic 7 a few days ago. It wasn't a buy now item so the bidding was going back and forth...I was outbidded several a few times and eventually lost the bid. Checked a day later....same amp...same guy selling it was back on the auction block. All that time I was going back and forth.....I was doing it with either the seller under another acct or a buddy of his....trying to ramp up the price. That's the one reason I usually do the buy now option.

My buyers beware 2.

+1 i have had more problems with sellers on ebay than i would have liked. One time for sending me something broken and sending it back to them then never getting refunded until i opened a case. Another time the item was just never sent a few more similar to the former and just like you mentioned mysterious out bidders that never buy the item... Then days later offering me to buy the item at my last highest bid which is bs bc the other bids were false and of course i didn't buy it.
But PP in itself they have had my bank acc info for 7years and credit card info etc and never once have i had anything fishy happen with them.

Yep....I just looked and now the amp is going for $152.00 with $32.00 shipping
I try to look out for ppl because this is straight bs. My guest bid was for $100. Starting bid was $1.04....
And I noticed all my bids were gone from the history page.
