Best Winter Wheels

I'm looking for the best 18' wheel brands to use for a 335i conv with m sport for winter tires. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Buy the cheapest; they're only going to be on 4-5 months, and salt kills them. Go to tirerack and buy something for around $125. Don't forget to buy TPMS sensors.

You might also want to think about 17". You'll have more rubber cushioning the rim from the pothole, you can likely find narrower tires (which is what you want in winters), and the whole setup will probably be far less expensive.

I have Sport Edition A7s from Tirerack on my M3 and they do a good job. Nice thick spokes for potholes!

I didn't add TPMS as it is not a requirement in CT and I have non-RFT tires

I bought cheap 18" "sport tuning turbine" wheels from tirerack.com for $99 each back in 09. They are fine but potholes around here are ridiculous and one of them is slightly bent. If you can find some second hand oem wheels for a decent price I'd give thise strong consideration. I'm running Bridgestone blizzak LM-60 runflats which are amazing in the snow though miraculously I haven't needed them yet this year in Chicago.

Also I do run slight narrower tires (225/40) all around for the winter. I went with the TPMS which at the time were $41 each. My regular set up is the type 287 wheel. The center caps did not fit on the winter wheels so I just bought cheap BMW stickers which were applied to the center caps. Sounds kind of weak but it surprisingly looks ok. Better than the "sport edition" logo that came on the cheapo winter wheels.

In general I say steelies! But, any cheap rim that you like the appearence of. Go with a -1 size. Consider going to the non sport size tire and rim. Second hand market is worth a search, particuarlly if you go the non sport size route as you can often find OEM rims at a good price.

I'm running Sport Edition A7's w/Blizzak WS-70's fm Tire Rack. My car has the 18 inch staggered set-up, but I went with 17's all around for Winter. 17's for better traction and slightly cheaper. I splurged on the BMW center caps also at $15.00 each and the TPMS sensors. Good set-up, easliy changed, and great in the snow.
