Why would my insurance company fix my transmission without having been in an accident?

if you have comprehensive they should fix anything on the car non-collision related... and you pay the deductible... but your rpremiums would increase if you made a claim on your car... same with vandalism... you have dent or get keyed and you want to fix it for cosmetic purposes only, they do it but raise your rates... i am no insurace agent so i am not 100% sure but thas what I have with state farm.... ask your insurance agent or call a different office and just ask without giving identifying information... thats waht i do when i am trying to get an honest answer...

Comprehensive ins. deals with non-collision damage, like a tree falling on your car, or vandalism. I wish there was a way I could tell my ins. co. my trans got damaged by vandals.

I do work for an insurance company and comprehensive (HH coverage) will not cover the tranny unless it was the result of a collision or a loss caused by missiles, falling objects, fire, theft or larceny, explosion, earthquake, windstrom, hail, water, flood, malicious mischief or vandalism, and riot or civil commotion.

alright plan B!!!!! take a sledge hammer to the tranny and tell the insurance company you hit a rock.... like the oil pan or something... when the pan is hit like that it dislodges sludge and that can get stuck in the filter and ruin a tranny

Seems extreme to part out a car due to a faulty transmission. Just sell it as is. There are many people who can replace a transmission easily enough. It's not fun, but not terrribly hard either. No special tools or lifts are needed and it can be done with car on jack stands (been there done that). You might make more money in the end parting out a 2002 with bad trans, but if you figure labor, you come out behind. I have parted out a car, made more than the buy back and then some (more than if I sold the working car outright). But it was a TON of work.

I'm not just parting out because of the tranny. I have the dreaded alt. bracket gasket leak also. The underside of my engine is coated with oil. My control arms are shot. I was just about to replace the arms when the trans trouble started. CPO ran out 2 years ago, and I've been doing repairs myself. I'm tired of working on this car to keep it running. I've had 5 years of good times with this baby. I already bought a 2013 4runner and I only have one parking space, so the 7 has to go.
ASK $250 L7 $400 Parking actuator $300 Rear seats Tan Leather $400

Well, I heard about a fellow who lived in Honolulu. Took a drive north, I believe it was the Likelike hwy,
![]() and as he was driving up the coast, he was consumed by the beautiful blue water to his right. He then got a cell phone call and answered it . He got distracted and accidentally drove into the water. It has happened to many before!

We've had people drive their car into the Ala Wai canal in Waikiki. Probably looking too hard at the bikinis!

I know the shipping is going to be $$$, but I'm trying to sell these parts well below what you would find on ebay or anywhere else. I want to keep the price low enough to make the parts more attractive even with the shipping fee. Where else can you find an L7 for $400, used of course?

Unfortunately it will be parked on the other side of the island, so I can only get to it on the weekends. This Sunday I plan on removing as much of the electronics as possible. Along with a few other items that some have requested.
