Power steering feels different.

Hi guys!
I noticed my power steering doesn't feel the same anymore; it's not like it stopped working completely, yet I can feel it's different than before. I checked the power steering fluid the level is okay.
Should I check the belt?
Thanks!!

If you haven't done so already, I'd start with something even simpler...the air pressure in the tires. Have you checked the "cold" pressure (check before driving or after car has set a spell) and compared it to the recommendation on the driver's door jamb?

Are there any more adjectives you can use to "describe" the "feel"...since we can't physically drive your car, we depend on you painting the picture, and "feel different" is kind of vague. For example, when and how does it feel different? Does it only occur when you're moving slow or trying to park, or does it occur at high speeds, too? Is it "harder" to turn the wheel...or do you feel more "resistance" when turning, or is it a "looser" feeling? Is there any "vibration" felt through the steering wheel when the "different feeling" occurs?

Since you don't list a model year nor the type of fluid your car takes, does your car use...ATF or Pentosin CHF 11 S? Has anyone topped up the PS fluid reservoir lately..and if they did, could they have used the incorrect fluid (PS fluid instead of ATF, or ATF instead of Pentosin)? Have you checked the color...is it still reddish pink (ATF) or light mint green (CHF 11 S)? (TIP: placing a little bit of the fluid from the reservoir on a white piece of papepr/cardboard or napkin/paper towel/rag will show what color the fluid is)

Funny thing is I have noticed the same with my E38. It seems to be a little harder to turn the wheel at slower speeds or while parking. My PS fluid level is Ok I topped it off thinking it was the issue and it's still there. It's not bad just seems a little stiffer

My only experience of this was after changing the GM module, when the steering went heavier at low speeds. Once the GM was re-coded, steering went back to normal

Re: Power steering feels different.

Just stiffer/harder when the car is at a standstill. My fluid level is okay so is tire pressure.

Re: AC blower motor and resistor

Hi guys,
My AC doesn't turn on, I found out my blower motor is gone, I'll replace the resistor as well.
My question is: does the 98 740 il come with one blower or 2? And can a 2001's resistor fit a 98?
I need a quick response because I got to order the parts.

One blower with resistor mounted on the blower. Same for all E38's as far as the part itself. Almost missed this. You should start another thread when the topics are so different.

Re: Power steering feels different.

Yeah I realized the mistake after the question has been posted, I should have started a new thread.
The reason why I was a little confused about the blower is that I'm trying to get a used one on Ebay, and I notice some listings say " FR and RR"; so I thought maybe the car comes with 2 blowers, each with a resistor.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: Power steering feels different.

I guess this is what I need. Now I see why sometimes it is referred to as front and rear.I think there are 2 blowers for one motor. Correct me if I'm wrong!!

Wrong car. That's for the E32. You have an E38.

Here's what my search on Ebay turned up to.

That would be it. Can't tell if that has the resistor on it or not but your problem could be either one. Best find one with at least a 30 day warranty in case it doesn't work once you have it in. It's a time consuming job to change it out. Hopefully any used one you find is a known good one.

Re: Power steering feels different.

This one comes with a 6 month warranty.I'll buy the resistor separately just in case.
Thanks for your input, I'll post the outcome on the forum once everything has been completed.
