Hail Mary!!!

Before I begin the parting out process I decided to give it one last shot.
I listed my car as a mechanics special for $5500.
Needs transmission work, which sounds like an expensive headache!
What do you guys think?

I would buy it for that much if I lived in Hawaii.

That's way to low....Beleve it or not here in CA We have Technical schools that would take you car and work on the fix for free all you pay is for parts .. Basically worked on by student mechanics ... 5500 is in my opinion a joke .. Keep it iam sure an alternative Will arise .. My 01 c

You can't part that car out, it's too clean, I think it's against the law.

What kind of tranny issue? These trannies shut themselves down at the slightest sense of trouble

That car is way too nice to part out.

I can't drive it anymore. It takes forever to get in gear, and I never whats gonna happen at the next stop light. I've shown it to several people, and they all know a trans fix for these cars are $$$. No one will touch it. And I don't blame them!

you can get a remand transmission for $4k

What does the car do? do it keep kicking itself into park or it never goes in drive? Do it drive then trans fail safe kick in? what are your symptoms?

It's $1100 to ship to CA. or Seattle ports.

You would be looking around 7- 8k for this car after new trans an shipping etc

You put it in D, it doesn't go into D, indicator light goes from P to N to D and back to P. The same thing for Reverse. After 10 minutes of shifting and restarting the engine because of failsafe mode. It finally goes onto gear.

Have you tried getting a diagnosis or something? It could easily be fixed if it's a simple repair like a new sealing sleeve or if you are low on fluid. It sounds like both would fix it since the fluid warms up after 10 minutes and thickens allowing the trans to work.

+1 have them replace the sleeve an the adapter. Roughly $40.00 in parts an $250.00 -$350.00 labor.

I really rather you hold on to your 7,be patient and do alil more research on the symptoms you're having..,BUT if you do decide to part her out?.. i could use a few parts lol! logic amp,trunk motor/pump, headlight ballasts and igniters,.... Heck!! just ship me the whole car thru UPS ill build it here lol

Keep it. I had same problem car would come out of reverse and drive got errors too when trans was cold had to wait 20 minutes to have oil warm up then it would drive hard and go to trans safe mode every time i drove it scared thought it would leave me walking lol. Took it to couple of trans shop and Bmw dealer's and was told i needed a new trans but i keep going to other indy till a friend told me of a guy that works on bmw, took it to him in the morning and in afternoon he calls me and says my car is fixed , he told me it was low 4 quarts of trans fluid. i could not believe it. After reading in this great fourms and help from the community here i took it back and got the sealing sleeve and the mectronic sleeve too. Good luck im thinking your trans been leaking trans fluid and its low.
