2009 X5 Extended Warranty prices?
Wife's truck. up at 46k miles, deciding to keep the car or sell and get a new ML for her. I've had enough bmw's over the years to not want to own w/out a warranty.
What are you all paying for a 2 year extended warranty? I've never been a big fan of the X5 so I'm not heartbroken to move on, however my wife loves it and wants to keep it a while. Thanks.

BMW has different levels of Extended Vehicle Protection that you can buy. There is Gold vs. Platinum; 70K vs. 100K miles, etc. so it's a little difficult to compare pricing.
I don't have the breakdown any more but I bought the Maintenance Program Upgrade too (which I probably wouldn't do again). I think the Platinum 7-yr 70k part cost around $4K. I did very little shopping around as I was running out of time. Some dealers don't want to discount at all; others might give you a few hundred off. It's worth noting that the dealer, if you buy remotely, needs one of keys shipped them to them... Last edited by brian5; 01-19-2013 at 04:43 PM. |

extended warranty
ok so im in the same boat and i've done reasonable research. i had a warranty for my e46 in the past with warrantydirect.com; though i didnt really have any problems with them when i had the car 10 years ago, things may have change considerably with them now. i really dont know but their bbb record sucks. their cost for a e70 for a 4yr/100kmiles/100ded is $3300. all warranties that i speak of are 4 years/100k miles/100 deductible and are exclusionary/bumper to bumper types of warranties that i mention below (including warrantydirect).
next is mercury insurance--incredibly reliable but incredibly expensive as well. $4950 for 4/100k/100 ded next, costco warranty via cws: $5800 for the exact same thing. the other warranties i've heard good things about is jm&a and fidelity warranty services. GE auto warranty is very good to but after research i've discovered that they do not cover nearly as much as the mercury or the costco warranty. the bmw extended warranty sucks! dont waste your money. they cover 60% of what these aforementioned companies cover. plus, you can pay over 18 months with mercury and costco. can anyone chime in regarding anything better or similar? There are a few board sponsors that sell these plans. Do a search.
I seem to recall 2800 for basic, 3500 for Gold, 4500 for Platinum. Plus or minus 500? A PS Cheap warranties are cheap for a reason....
