Can radio volume be turned up?

Hi,
I have a 2011 BMW 328i and sometimes I like to crank up the volume on the radio. It seems that the volume could go higher, but it maxes out. Any ideas other than don't crank the volume so high? :-)

There is a good accessory you may want to install. It's called an "amplifier."

You may over-match your speakers! Recommend you try searching on the subject. Google often has useful references, and Bing.

I am remiss. A "subwoofer" will add bounce to your ride, with a low end thump none can match.

However, extended use can lead to incontinence. Careful with your volume setting on this.

BMW downgraded the base model stereo system in the 3-Series cars for model years 2010 and early 2011. This has been a source of many owner complaints. I am going to assume that your car was produced during this time, and has the base stereo. The Harman Kardon stereo was the optional upgrade, and IMO sounds a lot better.

If the assumptions above are correct, you will need to look at upgrading your stereo to get any improvement. Unfortunately, this probably means an amplifier and better speakers. In answer to your next question, yes the HK stereo can be retrofitted, but it is prohibitively expensive.
