I was a bit salty having a BMW without navi you know kinda defeats the purpose to me. I have an iphone 5 and the navi on that thing sucks.

The sales person told me they will call me back, @ KUSHP14 i am becoming a bit impatient but will keep up the search. @ frankjr8 I was thinking why not just load the disk into the cd player.

If you only have CD player & no DVD, you don't have NAV. If you have 6.5" screen with car info on the menu screen, you don't have NAV. 17k for a 525 with 79k mi. is too much.

Well I have nav on my 2010 E60 and its not very good. Its good to have I guess but I will just use my phone gps or my garmin unit that I get lifetime updates for free. The BMW updates are around $250 and not worth it.

@ rok8man
I may not use the navi that much but i figure why get a BMW without Navi, its a lux sport sedan I would like as much options as possible. But I will continue my search today at work.

Honestly, for navigation your best bet is a Garmin or a smart phone w/ Google maps.
The navigation in the new iDrive is decent, but nothing great. In the old iDrive, its about on par w/ that in my wife's Lexus. Also, you'll likely need to pay a few $100 to update the maps if the navigation software is built into the car. On the other hand, my Google maps on my iPhone costs me nothing extra than my current phone service and is regularly updated. $17k sounds too high for a 525 with that many miles. Also, more options aren't always good. I can certainly appreciate the sport and premium packages and the cold weather package is nice living in the northeast. However, active steering costs me extra for alignments and in general there are just more things that can go wrong. I think if you can find a car with at least the premium and sport packages, I think you'll be very happy. The logic7 (upgraded sound) is pretty nice too if you are an audiophile. Although you won't really get the full benefit of L7 without satellite radio or an aux source that is unless you like burning those little old plastic discs called CDs.

I bought my 06 550i with 82k miles (no nav, no HUD) for $14.9k........I'd say $17k is too high for this car.

So a while back I wrote a simple regression program that would look at some data on cars.com to get an estimate of what's a good price for a car in a local market.
Haven't run it in a while since developing it some, but just tailored it to 525's within 250 miles of Brooklyn. Surprisingly, it ran with very few tweaks. I've attached a figure and a PDF of a spreadsheet. The figure shows the expected price of a car along with its actual sale price. The expected price is computed by performing a multi-regression fit to the data extracted from the web. Wherever the expected price exceeds the actual price is an indicator of potentially finding a good deal. I've highlighted those index entries in the spreadsheet by setting the text to bold. Note that right now the program tends to miss if options or packages are installed because of inconsistent listing among dealerships - still working on some data fusion to resolve that minor issue. Sample size is 199 cars, but based on incomplete information about the significant predictors, only 190 were able to be used. The main predictors for this set were mileage, year, presence of AWD, and Premium Package. Here's the regression equation Price = $29000 - $0.084/mile - $1082/year* + 933 IF AWD + 620 IF ZPP. year is relative to 2012 so if the vehicle was a 2006 525 then year = 2012 - 2006 = 6 Adjusted Rsq (goodness of fit) is 0.72 which is decent On a side note, I was incredibly surprised to see how many dealerships very poorly list transmission specs. Most forget, but others simply list 6-Speed. For this generation of 5 series its impossible to determine Auto from Manual because they are both a 6 speed. I guess I'll need to start reading in the images and train some neural nets to differentiate between the shift levers... If anyone else is in the market for a car let me know, still trying to fully exercise the program so that it may be suitable for deployment on its own website someday.

Don't rush into buying a car because the price sounds good or you are getting impatient. You will fine the exact car you want. Otherwise you will regret buying your car from the minute you see the car you actually wanted.

@kupid ,You would be happy with a 550i if you found it for a good price , there pretty solid. Just try to stay away from the 545i.
