Cool 2007 328xi Tranny Problems?

I am about to buy a 2007 328xi in Connecticut-I live in Wisconsin. I'm going to have the car checked out but one of my mechanic buddies mentioned to beware of the 3 series transmissions....

The car I'm buying is a manual-does this make a difference? On some forums I have noticed that people have had problems with the automatic transmissions stalling. But I have also noticed that someone had trouble getting a car into gear after it was in neutral for a bit.. their car was older so I'm guessing it was just the transmission fluid.

The car I'm looking to get has 84xxx miles on it. The carfax has no maintenance records and it's selling from a dealership for $5,000 under kbb and they said it's in beautiful shape.. I'm thinking too good to be true? Thoughts?

There were a number of automatic transmission problems in the past, but they've been pretty limited on the E90 series. The biggest one I've seen is the leaking mechatronic sleeve issue, which is an expensive repair if out of warranty, but it only applies to the ZF automatic transmissions, and those are only in the 335. The manual transmissions have sounded pretty solid.

So with regards to a 2007 328xi. I don't know of any significant manual transmission issues that I would be worried about. As always, your mileage may vary.

Thanks so much for being back to me! I feel like the car is a pretty good buy but Idon't want to just take the dealers word for it and be out a ton of money. I'll have to look more into the typical problems of a 328
