Hpfp fail, fml!!!
I few days ago i posted a thread about my car lagging and what not. I took the car to the bmw dealership for a diagnostic test on FRIDAY(two days ago) to see what the problem was with the car. The results came back with negative findings. The serviceman said everything checked out and nothing came up error wise. 30 mins ago while driving my HPFP light came on in my dash, FML!!!!
IM so livid right now. Good thing i still have warranty but this issue should have been found on friday IMO. ONly problem is, I live in new jersey and I'm in Connecticut visiting my gf's family. Tomorrow is a holiday and i don't know if any BMW dealerships are open tomorrow.![]()

after I stopped driving the car, I turned the car back on and the light was no longer in the dash, since its not in the dash anymore I wonder will the dealership still be able to detect a problem or not?

The codes should still be stored in the system/OBD memory, even if the light is not 'on' on the dash anymore. So yes, they should still be able to detect them.

Dealerships will be open, no need to worry about that.

You'll be fine. Now the dealer will know what the problem is. More than likely it's not the HPFP.

well if its not the hpfp that's causing the jerking/lack of acceleration what could it be after doing research I've read a lot off ppl have problems with the fuel pump, only other thing I can think of is the injectors that may be the problem

I guess we/you'll know when you take it to get the codes scanned...

You, more than likely, have a new fuel pump. I'm not sure I'm seen anyone talk about them failing with the new pump. There are lots of things that could though you into limp more. That's just your cars way of protecting itself from damaging something else. When you go into limp mode, you can turn your car off/on to get out of limp mode. But you definately want to get it checked out. If you have a code reader, you can get the code yourself and find out what the problem is.

Remember the HPFP is warranted for 120K miles and 10 years by BMW.
Could be LPFP, injectors or maybe and I say maybe HPFP which seeing failures anymore is getting to be uncommon... |

How many miles did you mention it?
Have you checked the intake valves to see if there is carbon build up ?
Maybe it needs a walnut cleaning. |

Dirty walnuts can be a big problem.

I'm currently not at home I'm 130 miles from home, should I take the risk of driving my car home or just take it to a local bmw dealership in the area where I am currently located?

That's not a HPFP light....don't remember any HPFP light. It is an engine issue. Ask your dealer for a readout of all codes found - interested. |

My car gave me that light when one of my hoses popped off. The shop which worked on my car earlier that day forgot to tighten the clamp on the hose exiting the FMIC. I reconnected it and it worked fine afterwards. Glance under to see if anything looks out if place.

Alright, so i took the car to the bmw dealership this morning, i was there from 820am-1215, from what was told me to so far they say that it seems like an issue with one of the turbos. I have a loaner and they say the car is most likely going to be there overnight. Thats the most updated info i have at the moment, i don't care how long it takes as long as they fix the damn thing. So far my loaner is a 2012 335i sedan....i can definitely feel a difference in the acceleration with this car vs mine.
