Guys don't even bother with those Eibach sleeves from summit. They are WAY over priced. When i got them they seriously look like $2 parts that I paid $70 for.
If the springs aren't installed yet the better solution is to just buy the right size rubber hose at home depot and slide it into coils. Alan

yeah that guy is me lol
I actually think the hose method works better since its softer rubber. The sleeves from eibach were hard so they could still potentially make noise. If the springs aren't on the car the hose method is the best way. Alan

I actually did cancel the Summit order yesterday. I already had the 3/4 by 5/8 clear tubing from HD already, but just wanted something that might be more OEM looking. I don't think it will "slide" all the way on but if it's sliced diagonally it can be wrapped like Alan's other post shows. Then just use a couple zip ties to hold it in place.

I would be worried the clear would turn brownish/yellowish over time and look ghetto...

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053 The ACS Springs are black with very faint lettering so most likely nobody at the dealer would even notice. Remember it's the very top two coils that get wrapped and they are so high up they wouldn't be visible unless you lifted the car up and really got up "in there" or removed them.

Springs and sways would be idea but....
Choice of quality springs (ACS, Eibach, Dinan), depending on each driver's choice of ride height vs ride quality, would be the first step in controlling the float but a proper set of sway bars, balanced front and rear, would seal the deal.
BUT, as other posters mentioned, no aftermarket bars exist yet. The F10 M5 bar set would be the best deal (engineered product and relatively affordable) but according to another poster, only the front M5 bar bolts up. The rear will not bolt on without some modification. Hopefully, some fix is on the way. The SPR link is a prototype tube mock up, I believe, and it's probably some offshore manufacturer fishing for a market. Their listed size 30mm and 20mm f/r must be for just for laughs only. I couldn't imagine those size bars on a non track car like an F10...the car would handle flat, for sure, but be harsh in all turns and lift its rear wheels like a out of control go cart, I would think. Nevertheless, I sent SPR and email inquiry weeks ago and no reply. Hmmm. If anyone, however, does find a set of Sways that fit, please let everyone know!

After digging around realoem.com it turns out that the 550GT's rear sway bar is 18mm and should fit the F10. The M550dX also has a 16mm rear bar that should work. Stock is 14.
Another member is trying the 18mm 550gt bar on his 550i soon and I am going to attempt the M5 front bar on my 535xi this weekend. Even with DDC and ACS springs the car still sways around alittle too much for my taste. I am use to 3 series on coilovers type handling so my F10 is way far from that. I am hoping the M5 front bar fits my xdrive and gives me that extra tightness that I am looking for. If this works out I'll do the 550GT rear bar next. Alan

Thicker Rear Bar - Good Find!
I checked the image (see pic) on realoem and it looks just like the 550i bar. That its available in 16mm and 18mm is just great. A 20-30% increase in roll stiffness at the rear should do the trick by itself or, even better when combined with the M5 bar up front.
Going to be a lot of interest in this if it works. Please keep us posted if you do the install. THANKS! Many of you probably saw this post on the other forum discussing the M5 bars but here it is for those who might of missed it: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthre...=717144&page=3

Racing Dynamics (Germany) website at http://www.racing-dynamics.net lists a huge number of performance parts including sway bars for F10 (sway bars are supposed to be available in January 2013).
I came across this website a year ago when looking for suspension springs for my F10 535i. At that time Racing Dynamics (Germany) was offering two different sets for 25 mm and 35 mm drop. The 25 mm set is not listed at the website page. After lengthy correspondence with Michael Weber, Managing Director there I decided to go with ACS springs because of price. In case anybody would be interested please contact Michael.Weber@racing-dynamics.net As per Michael, in Germany Racing Dynamics is reprogramming F10s in order to allow setting DHP default at any mode, instead of BMW standard where Normal is set as a default. Unfortunately remote service is not available. Racing Dynamics (Germany) and RDSport, an Italian manufacturer with shop in LA are two different companies. |
