E46 (M56) value cover gasket
Just in case anyone is having problems finding the right valve cover gasket for your E46 like I did I am posting this. I have an E46 that was manufactured in 2003 and it turns out that its a SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) also know as the M56. Since these were only manufactured in a couple states I doubt many of you will have the same issue. If you are interested in the details about this engine see the wikipedia page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M56. The gasket is completely flat with exception of the u shapes for the sides of the cover, as compared to the normal E46 gasket that has a lip around the entire edge. Here are the parts numbers that were a pain in the ass to find:
11127521009 - Valve cover gasket 11127521010 - Spark plug hole gaskets Thank you JC Witney for helping me find these! None of the local auto parts stores had these including Kragen, Orielly, or Autozone. The local BMW parts store even wanted to sell me the wrong set.
